My person (Charles Leclerc)
Your brother's best friend is sure you were made for eachother
Note: english is not my first language. Most times I read a brother's best friend trope, it's usually the reader going after the boy, so I felt like doing things a little bit different (also, my brain got a bit jumbled because I was wondering about the perspective, and in the end I went with reader being Joris' twin). Also, I always feel a little bit of impostor's syndrome whenever I post these tropes for which I've read many great pieces about it, and I never know if my ones are good enough to be posted but we're going with it
Thank you so much to everyone who likes and reblogs, your feedback is appreciated 🤍 and I'm taking requests so if you have any ideas or concepts you want to share, feel free to do so as I'll try to get to them the best I can!

Most people thought having a twin brother was bitter sweet because while you had to share everything since the womb, you had a brother so there came a time where you wanted to have different toys, different rooms and different styles.
Different friends, however, was never a question. Even with different interests, you and Joris often came as a duo, so both of your friend groups were pretty close.
"We're going to Charles' apartment to watch the football game, are you joining us?", Joris asked, throwing himself on your sofa and partially occupying your personal space, "Marta is going to be over and I think she's taking Chiara with her, too".
You don't remember a time where Charles wasn't in your life. Your brother knew him since they were in kindergarten and so there wasn't a memory where he wasn't involved. Which brought you to the last time you were with him, just a week before.
Charles spent the afternoon with Joris at your brother's apartment, wanting to relax and game for the rest of the day.
"It's Y/N", Charles said as he gave Joris his ringing phone, your caller ID prompting him to pick the calk up right away, "can you come and get me, please?", he heard you faintly as Joris got up straight away, listening to whatever you were telling as he put on his trainers and jacket.
"Y/N needs me to pick her up from the café - turns out her date thought she wouldn't mind going home on her own", Joris rolled his eyes, "it will be quick, you're good on your own here?", he checked with Charles, "sure", the driver assured, unpausing the game and carrying on.
Another date and another disappointment for you, Charles thought. While you weren't as close as his brother was to him, he still knew about your life as much as your other friends, and lately you had been looking for someone, your person, you claimed. Luck had yet to join your search as every date you went on seemed to go between bad and awful.
If he had the courage to come clean about his feelings, maybe things would be different. For a while, yes, you were Joris' twin sister and that was it. You were a cool girl and he didn't mind spending time with you or having your hang out with their group, but things changed when you went to university.
Maybe it was your glow up, although you never needed one to catch his eye in the first place, but year after year, you grew to exude confidence, your natural beauty enhanced as you turned into a charming, caring and kind young woman.
Since he didn't want to ruin the bond you had, he watched it all happen from the sidelines. How happy you sounded whenever you had a date later in the week, whenever a cute guy came up to you in the club and how you squealed "I think this one might be the one!" as you excused yourself and declined dinner invitations from the group for a date.
He heard the door open and then close, footsteps approaching the living room as he paused the game just in time for you to sit on the sofa, "what's up, Leclerc?", you nudged his shoulder.
"I'm good, how are you?", he quesioned, "I guess that one isn't the love of your life either?", he semi joked.
"He was certifiable, at the very least", you began as the boys chuckled, "Hey! I'm qualified to make such appreciation! He kept talking about himself and he was borderline sexist, but then he said I would be fine going home on my own? I don't know, it was a mess and I can't believe I even experienced that - I'm going to pretend it was a fever dream", you shrugged your shoulders, "I was expecting to spend the afternoon with him - thank Goodness I didn't, - and the construction work at my place is still going so I don't have anywhere to go, I'm sorry if I'm crashing your afternoon", you gulped.
"It's fine, it's nice having company other than us two playing and screaming at eachother", Charles smiled as Joris shrugged his shoulders, "you're already staying her until the building work is done", you brother offered.
"I wasn't asking you, silly; you're my twin, dealing with me it's something that comes with the job", you winked.
When it came to dinner time, the three of you decided to have take out, your brother calling the restaurant and scheduling a time for him to pick it up, "I'm going to shower", you said as you got up from the sofa, heading to the guest room you were staying in.
By the time you got out, your heard Joris shout that he was leaving while you put on some comfy clothes for the evening in. When you went to the balcony so your towels could air dry for a bit, you sat in the padded chair, looking out to the sunset.
He would come, you thought. It wasn't particularly a manifestation or a "throw it at the universe" kind of thing, but rather something to reassure yourself. You were worthy of the standards you set for yourself and there was someone out there for you, and he would come.
"Hey", Charles stepped into the balcony, coming to sit in the chair next to yours, "a cent for your thoughts?", he smiled softly, the warm yellow and orange light hitting his eyes in a glowy hue.
"Do you believe that the right person for you is out there?", you shot softly.
"I know she is", Charles gulped, "Oh, confident!", you giggled softly, "but it's nice, better than being sulky like me".
"I'm not sure how much better it is. I know she is out there, but it's a little more complicated than just going up to her and tell her that", he played with hia thumbs.
"So you're chickening out?", you quirked your eyebrow, partly teasing him but genuinely curious about it. You didn't have enough fingers to count how many girls tried to approach you and befriend you with the only goal of getting into a friendship circle that would lead them to Charles, and he could probably chat up anyone he wanted, so it was hard for you to understand how he didn't have the love of his life with him yet.
"It's not chickening out if you think it might cause some issues with your friends, I think. I'm being prudent, that's all", Charles tried, wanting to take the opportunity to try and see where you stood. Girls were usually sharper than guys, so you said many times, maybe you'd take the hint.
"If I knew who the love of my life was, I would go to him and never look back. I know it sounds silly, but I wouldn't want to be away from him a second longer, it would be quite shitty if he was in a relationship", you mused, "but if we were really meant to be together - if it was a both ways kind of thing - he would know it, right? Goodness, sound a bit like a romantic sop, don't I?", you chuckled, "but I would fight for him, for us".
Charles felt inspired before he felt a little angry. Here you here saying you would fight until you found your person when he was right there. If it really worked as a both ways thing, you'd have to know and feel the person you kept looking for was him. He broke into a full belly laugh as he stated at you. No make-up, hair sitting in its natural wave and comfy clothes, you never looked so beautiful to him.
"Would you let me fight for us, too?", he mused quietly but loud enough for you to hear, "would you want me to do that?".
Giggling at him, you could only shake your head at his words, "I know this sound silly - Joris teases me enough about it enough", you groaned as your hands covered your face.
"I'm not joking or teasing", Charles clarified, turning to face you on the chair, "All I want is for you to look at me the way you look at them", Charles stated, "whenever you talk about your dates before you go on them, you're so hopeful that that guy will be the one, you look forward to it like it will be that time, and you never looked at me that way when I constantly make efforts to hung the stars and the moon for you and stand there hoping they get to you".
His confession took you off guard. Charles just admitted he liked you, in a way with words that was more elaborate than what any of your dates had ever told you combined.
"I thought you were being nice?! Was this some sort of plan?!", you quesioned immediately. He had been around you your whole life, you surely would've noticed it, wouldn't you?
Charles chuckled in a way you found a smidge belittling, "it wasn't a plan! Y/N, I have not been planning this or doing some strategy, it just happened out of nowhere!", Charles bit back, "like you said, the person for me is out there and she's you!".
The noise from the door pulled both of you out your discussion, your brother's singalong voice announcing he was back with the food.
Dusting your sweatpants, you stepped back inside the living room, shaking off the jitters you had as your brother scrunched up his face, "is everything okay?", he asked.
"Of course, I'm just hungry and you drove like a grandpa here", you bickered back as Charles joined you at the table, "I'll get the cutlery and plates from the kitchen", you mumbled.
The dinner was eaten quietly on your side, Charles and Joris making most of the conversation as you exchanged a few looks with the Formula One driver, your twin brother seemingly obvious as he carried on as usual, "I'm going to bed", you said after helping tidy, "are you sure? We were going to watch something on TV?", Joris asked you.
"I'm getting a headache, so I'll pass, good night boys", you gave them tight lipped smile.
In the bedroom, you changed into your pyjamas and finished your night-time routine and got under the sheets, Charles' words replaying as you looked at the ceiling.
"Y/N? Are you joining us or not? Do you have any plans?", Joris insisted, "you've been weird lately", he pointed out.
"I'll join you, yes, just need to get my hoodie and then I'll be good to go", you scrambled out as your heart beat faster inside your chest.
Joris offered to drive to Charles' apartment, getting there when Riccardo, Marta and little Chiara were alresdy inside with Charles.
"The rest of the group couldn't come, so it's just us", Riccardo said as he noticed your expression, "what a shame, more food for us!", you smirked, sitting next to Marta and playing with the little girl on her lap, "hello, my love, hello!", you cooed in the voice you only had for babies, "look at you so grown up! You get more beautiful everytime I see you", you smiled, tickling her chin softly as she giggled loudly.
"Who did the roast potatoes last time we got together?", Joris stepped back into the living room, "I did", you stated as you grabbed one of the toys on the coffee table, ready to sit down on the floor so you and Chiara could play together.
"Don't sit down!", your brother yelled, "sorry, but you can't sit down - Charles needs help with the potatoes and he doesn't know the recipe like you do", he reasoned as you got up, trying not to show how much you didn't want to be in the same room alone with Charles. Watching football while having dinner with your group of friends was one thing, spending one on one time with Charles after what he said to you the last time was another.
"Hey", you said as you stepped into the kitchen, "Joris said you needed help, what can I do?".
Charles smiled a little, maybe at the irony of your quesion, "I don't know what seasonings to use in these", he said as he showed you the vegetable with the ones he already cut up.
"Okay, do you keep the spices in the same place?", you asked as he nodded, encouraging you to use his kitchen like it was your own.
Opening the cabinets and grabbing what you needed, you started mixing the ingredients and cutting up the ones you needed to, "can you get me the olive oil, please? I can't reach it", you asked and Charles complied, "thank you".
"Is this how this is going to be? Interacting like we haven't known eachother since we were little and like I haven't poured my heart out to you?", Charles said, arms crossed as he rested against the kitchen counter.
"I wasn't counting on you saying all of that, I was so caught off guard that I haven't been able to think about anything else in my off time!", you offered, setting the knife down on the chopping board.
"It's not like people have speeches ready and give of warnings when they're about to confess their feelings for someone... I myself wasn't expecting to do it until the words came out of my mouth", Charles gestured as if he was vomiting, "what do you expect it to be like anyway? People have to warn you they have feelings for you and ask if you want to hear it?! Is that what you want?".
"I want to feel loved, appreciated and valued. I want to be with someone that reminds me that I'm beautiful, that I'm smart and I'm wonderful. I want to share my life with someone who has no trouble with me wanting to have both career goals and family goals, I want someone who supports me as much as a support him, who is willing to do silly things because I enjoy them and who loves me for me, flaws and all", you let out in one go, "That's what I want".
Charles eyebrows climbed on his forehead, "Are you insinuating I can't give you that? Is that why we haven't spoken since that evening at Joris' place?".
"I'm saying you're my brother's best friend, and no matter how much I think you can do it - because you make me feel like that just from being my friend, imagine if we were dating -, I don't want to risk whatever we have, all of us", you gestured to the living room where the rest of the group was.
"Y/N", Charles pleaded, "you don't think I've thought about that? I didn't do it on a whim like you think I did, I've been sitting on this for quite a while, actually", he clarified, "I will respect whatever you decide, okay? But can't just sit and pretend that you don't want this thing between you and me as much as I do, because we could be so good-", he was interrupted as Marta crossed the corner and stepped inside the kitchen, "Charles, can I heat Chiara's soup on the microwave?", she asked with the small tupperware on her hands.
"Sure, here", he guided her as you resumed to seasoning the potatoes, putting them on the tray and then in the oven, "the game is about to start, hurry up!", Joris yelled.
"I'll just wash this, and that too", you took the tupperware's lid as well as the utensils you needed for the dressing.
"I need to cool it down a little, maybe in a bigger bowl", Marta said as Charles helped in getting the bowl from the cupboard as you set the utensils aside to dry, "Merci, Charles, off we go then", she said as she waited for you both to leave and go to the living room so she could follow you.
"Come here, sweet cheeks", you clapped at Chiara, taking her away from your brother's arms and putting her in the highchair so she could eat comfortably, "auntie Y/N is going to give you your delicious soup, yummy yummy", you smiled.
Charles couldn't help but take in the sight, how you made Chiara feel like she was the only person in the world as you smiled and spoke to her, finding a million and one ways to get her to eat the soup in the bowl.
The food was ready by the half-time break, so you all helped with bringing the food to the table, eating it as the team you were supporting ended up winning the game.
"She's knocked out", you pointed out to Riccardo, Chiara asleep in the little makeshift cot you made on the sofa with some pillows and blankets to make sure she was warm and secure.
"We can clean up, you guys go home and take this little princess to sleep in her own bed", Charles smiled, stroking the little girl's cheek softly as he watched her peaceful expression.
"You don't mind?", Marta wondered as the three of you nodded, helping the parents gather their daughter's belongings so they could leave, hoping she wouldn't wake up and make it harder for her to fall back asleep.
"Sweet dreams, petite fleur", you cooed as Marta cuddled Chiara into her chest, squeezing her small hand softly before they walked out of the door.
"These need to go on the dishwasher", you sorted through the plates and checked if they were safe to go on the machine as your brother help you.
"We should probably get going", Joris said, not wanting to overstay your welcome, "do you need anything else, Charles? Otherwise, me and Y/N will leave you to it", he said.
"Actually, me and Charles need to talk, if that's okay", you looked at the driver, catching him by surprise before he nodded in agreement.
Joris didn't dwell too much on it like you thought he would, "so you need me to come and pick you up or...?", he trailed before Charles saved you, "don't worry, I've got her", he stated.
When Charles accompanied your twin brother to the door, he was blunt and honest, "She's my sister, but there could be worse guys than you", Joris offered as Charles narrowed his eyes, "Oh, please, do you think I'm that blind? I've seen the way you look at her and how you always go above and beyond for her - she's just being too stubborn about it to see it, too. Still, if you ever break her heart or cause her any tears of sadness and anger, you're going to wish I didn't know so much about you", he threatened, although it didn't go as planned as they both laughed, "I trust you, there wasn't anyone I would trust like this", he sighed, "you're just lucky you have brothers, otherwise I might've taken revenge on you", he nudged his shoulder.
"I bet Lorenzo would enjoy a cuddle every now and again if you'd like", Charles giggled before he showed his seriousness again, "I just want this to work out between us, I think she's my person, you know?", he mused, realising how cliché and whipped he sounded, "I'll take care of her, you don't need to worry", he assured.
Charles closed the door and walked back to the living room where you sat down on the sofa, legs covered with one of the blankets, "I- thank you for staying back", he smiled, pointing with his eyes to the spot next to you silently asking if he could sit.
You opened the blanket so he could sit next to you and you could both keep warm, "I want to apoligise for not saying anything the last time we spoke, and for how I've handled this", you began, "I'm sorry, Charles", you said earnestly.
"Apology accepted", he nodded, "and did you just stay here to apoligise?", he quesioned.
"I- I thought we could have a date, sort of anyway", you mumbled, "and I could also tell you how I feel about you since it seems I owe you that with what you've told me", you looked into his eyes, "it wasn't that you were ever off bounds or anything like that, I never cared for those supposed rules, but it never occurred to me", you blurted and Charles quirked a brow, "shoot, that's not what I meant, ugh", you grunted as he soothingly rubbed your thigh, "what I meant is I always thought you'd never look at me that way - I'm Joris' twin - so I just took all of the affection I had for you and put it in a friendship feelings and all of the things you did for me, I thought you were just being nice because you're a nice guy", you clarified.
"Does this mean you're letting me treat you like you deserve? Because I plan on making sure you feel and know you're wonderful every single day", he smiled charmingly, confident words contrasting with his shy attempt of lacing your fingers together on his lap.
"How can you be so sure we are eachother's person?", you couldn't help but mumble, even if the butterflies in your stomach were dancing like they hadn't been in a long time, "I just know, and I'll help you see it, too", he smiled, kissing your knuckles before he pulled you to his chest, finding something to watch on the TV.
You both watched reruns of one of your favourite shows, pointing out little details you loved and talking about any topic that came to mind, and once Charles' body warmth and his touches along your arm caught up to your system and lulled you to sleep, your head finding it's spot on his chest as he smiled down at you, your beauty never ceasing to amaze him as he noticed every mole, freckle and scar on your face from up close.
Even if he didn't want to move, and that it wouldn't be the first time he slept on his sofa, he reasoned that he should at least offer you his bed. Softly stroking your cheek, he coaxed you to wake up, "I'm sorry for waking you up, but we can't sleep here", he whispered, kissing the side of your head, "you can sleep in my bed, I'll take the sofa", he offered as you stretched a little bit, removing yourself from his chest.
"If you promise you won't do any funny business, we can sleep in the same bed", you yawned.
"Of course I won't, Y/N! I would never do anything you didn't want to, I-", Charles panicked, not wanting you to think he was trying to take advantage of you.
"I'm only kidding, I know you won't", you assured, arms pulling him to stand up with you as you walked to the bedroom after turning everything off, "I trust you, Charles, completely", you smiled.
To him, it meant the world.
You felt his heart race when your hand landed on his chest, "I need a t-shirt, though, this is not comfy to sleep in", you reasoned as he looked for one on his drawers, "here, you can get ready here while I get ready in the bathroom", he smiled, kissing the top of your head before he stepped inside the ensuite.
After you swapped so you could brush your teeth, you were both undoing the bed, pulling the sheets back over you and having eachother.
"I really want to kiss you right now, but I don't want to cross any boundaries", Charles admitted as your heart raced in your chest, "I'd really like that, you can kiss me if you want", you consented.
Charles leaned to rub your nose in his before kissing your lips softly, allowing you both to revel in the feelings that had been put in labelled boxes at the back of your minds.
Parting your lips to breathe, you cupped Charles' cheek, your palm tickling from his facial hair as your thumb rubbed his skin, "I think you might be right", you mumbled, licking your lips, "about what?", he mused, "about the fact that you'll help me see it too", you smiled.
The next morning, you woke up with Charles looking at you, "Good morning, Y/N", he greeted, "See? I didn't pull any funny business", he wiggled his brows chuckling.
This was a sight you could get used to.
"Good morning", you smiled, "did you sleep well?", you wondered, pulling closer to him now that you were awake.
"I did, did you?", he asked and you nodded, cuddling closer to him and basking in the feeling of just being there.
"We are going to take this as slow as you want", Charles whispered against your forehead, leaving little kisses and pecks on your skin, "but I want you to know I'm all in".
"I'm all in, too", you whispered, "I can't promise you it will be a straight line - or that I won't spiral out every now and again because hey, it's me -, but I feel really good about this, you make me feel really good", you blushed as you kissed between his eyebrows, "having said this, not all of us have the day to do some training and sim racing, and I'm one of them. I have to go home to change and then head to the clinic", you pouted slightly.
"How about I make us some breakfast first, then I'll drop you off?", he suggested, stealing a peck from your lips, "hmm, sounds good", you hummed.
.
"Were you expecting us to be surprised?", Marta said as she and her family arrived in Charles' yacht, the three of them seeing you and Charles kissing at the table.
Throwing your head back in laughter as Charles walked up to help them inside, you shielded your eyes from the sun with your hand, "at least pretend you are", you joked.
"Oh my Goodness, I never thought you two would become a thing? Does this mean we can finally stop hearing your disgraced love life stories and Charles' complaints about who you went on a date with?", Riccardo belted out, catching the attention from a couple on the yacht next to the one you were sitting on.
"To be fair, that's how I noticed it", Marta began, "Charles didn't complain anymore about how he was alone and that the universe wasn't working on his favour", she smirked, greeting you two.
"We have been keeping it down low just to see how things would go", you blushed at getting caught and steering the conversation elsewhere once Chiara babbled at you, "Oh, baby girl, hello!", you cooed, pulling her into your arms.
"Soon enough you can get one of those, I bet your kid would be very very cute", Riccardo nudged Charles' shoulder, loving that the group now could have a few teasing moments and themes at your expense, all in good fun.
"What a warm welcome!", you heard your brother yell, a fake angry and ironic tone noticeable in his voice, "First, no one is here to greet me with a glass of something to drink or even a helping hand to step in", Joris clarified, "then I'm presented with a conversation about my sister's and my best friends sex life, which I don't want to know about by the way!!", he said as he came up to you, kissing the side of your head, "I'm happy she's happy, and that you're all happy together, but no talking about that, please!".

October 22nd, 2024: One Year Ago...
[CW: Abuse⚠️]
I just wanted to make a post to commemorate today, that on this day I left my abusive ex-boyfriend and it was one of the best decisions I made that year. I broke up with him the day after my senior homecoming night, it was so awful that was the push I needed to cut ties. I couldn’t see my friends because he was too antisocial to stay around them. I assumed I should stay with him since he was my date, but it was so terrible. We barely talked as we sat on the floor in the hallway outside of the lunchroom where my (for lack of a better term, RATCHET) homecoming dance was held. I was just stress eating a bunch of candy and trying not to cry because the awkwardness was actually, probably literally, killing me from the inside out. Then probably after an hour or so of sitting on the floor, an ANGEL appeared in the dim and flickering high school hallway ceiling bulbs… a girl I had tried to be friends with (who did not want to be friends with me and was kinda rude to me actually…) came and asked me if I wanted to dance! She got right in my ex’s face and asked “aren’t you gonna dance with her??” She said her boyfriend wouldn’t dance with her, either. Both our dates stood by the shitty pillars off the floor and watched us dance. I had never danced on the floor before… not seriously at least, and definitely not with a person I didn’t even know! I remember we danced to maybe three songs, one of them being “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2” by Pinkpantheress and Ice Spice. I remember the crowd singing “BOY’S A LIAR! BOY’S A LIAR!!” and while I danced for the first time, I could only say “boy’s a liar…. boy’s a liar…..” That girl was my saving grace. That was the best part of my night. That is what I wish I could remember. After that I couldn’t imagine sitting back on the floor for much longer, and I told him I wanted to go hang out with my friends and he should come outside with us. I pretty much ignored him, (sorry!) not that he was saying anything anyways. I played with my friends outside and I don't even remember what he did. I have a picture of us sitting on this big Adirondack chair, and it’s one of the most uncomfortable photos I’d ever have to look at. I was so beautiful that night, all to be ruined by forcing myself to hide away for a man. I had thought about breaking up with him before then, it was a passing thought that eventually ran laps around my head. That night destroyed anything I had left, I couldn’t bear to deal with that again. I broke up with him over the phone the next afternoon (which would be October 22nd of 2023!). I was crying and explaining why I had to do it. When I asked him how he felt he said “I’m sad but I’m not gonna cry about it.” “Oh, okay.. That’s good” I responded. Excuse me? How emotionally unaware can you be?
The abuse from my relationship didn’t manifest itself in any way you could see, it was a secret. Ever since I started dating him, which was May of that year, he had coerced me into doing things I didn’t want to, which was oral sex; I mention this because I’ll bring it up later. Before it started, I told him the things I didn’t want to do… but that didn’t stop him, because he didn’t care about what I wanted at all. He said, “I felt bad, but I did it anyway.” I hate to relive those first times, I was alone, vulnerable, and had no self respect. I didn’t understand what was happening and why I felt so wrong. This happened all the time, he would guilt me if I didn’t do what he asked, because “it’s been like a whole month!” even though I would only see him a few days out of that month because of school and his work. I would feel so awful, I’d come home and cry. One day my mom asked me why I was crying, and I told her “I just can’t tell you.”
I still wanted to be with him, I liked having him around (unless it was in public, which is another beast in itself) and I knew if I told my parents they would never let me see him again. I made it my duty to please him, because he wouldn’t do anything like that, not even sexually, for me and I felt as if I didn’t earn it yet. I’ve been battling that for so long. Feeling like I have to earn my partner’s love, when that’s not true. I don’t need to earn anything, I never did. I wish I could still believe that now, but I know I haven’t fully accepted it, either.
The reason I wanted to share this is that sexual abuse isn’t always full-on rape. It took me a long time to forgive myself and start blaming him for what he did, because it wasn’t my fault. Women are always blamed for when men fuck up. I wish that our young girls were taught this, so they wouldn’t have to question if what happened was of their own making. Someone who isn’t a victim, I don’t know if they will ever truly understand. Please respect yourself, and don’t fall victim to the mentality that you deserve the abuse, or you never worked hard enough to earn his respect. It just makes the monster stronger. I want to share this so everyone knows, it’s not your fault. It doesn’t matter if he was your boyfriend or husband, it doesn’t matter what you were wearing, it doesn’t matter if you could have overpowered him; no means no. And I did say no.
Thank you for listening. I’m sharing my story because these experiences have shaped who I am today, and have caused me much pain even though it has been a year now. These are serious issues that fly under the radar because of the shame women feel from going through this trauma. I’m still trying to get over the urge to wash my mouth out with soap, I’m still trying to work through my hatred of men. All I want is to stop hurting and heal. I did not ask for this, and I never asked for it. Thank you and peace be in your heart for anyone who is going through this. Break it off, you won’t regret it.

Just a best friend - E.M
i’m having a bad day so enjoy some angst 😍. idk if i’m gonna do a part two but i probably will because this was one of the most awful imagines i’ve ever made and it has a lot of mistakes but enjoy i guess <3
Eddie Munson was your best friend. he’d been your best friend since you were 7 years old, he was 9 and nothing had ever separated the two of you. not when he became the freak, not when you got into high school and people called him a devil worshipper, none of it bothered you because you knew the real Eddie. now, you were quite popular in the school and you’d always wondered why, maybe it was because you were a cheerleader who was actually nice to people but you hung out with Eddie sometimes but people still treated you nicely.
you had developed a crush on Eddie when you were 14 and the feelings had only progressed from the moment you realised. the only people who knew were Chrissy, your cheerleading friend and Robin. Robin had also been your friend for a while (since you were both 13) and she had kept the secret from Eddie the minute she found out, you also worked with Robin at family video which was always a bonus. both Robin and Chrissy encouraged you to tell Eddie your feelings but you never did. you didn’t want to ruin what you already had with him and you knew telling him your feelings would ruin that.
it was a Friday afternoon and you were at your locker collecting your English book, which was thankfully the last lesson of the day, with Robin by your side pestering you about Eddie. “c’mon y/n, you have to tell him some day, it’ll just make you feel worse keeping them in for any longer” she said in a pleading tone. she begged you practically every day to tell Eddie your feelings for him because she would say she was ‘99.9% sure he also felt the same way’. “Rob come on now, you know i can’t do that” you replied, closing your locker after getting the book.
“look i’ll make you a deal. i’ll tell Vickie how i feel once you’ve told Eddie how you feel. i know you want me to get it out as well so i’m willing to risk everything for you to tell him and you definitely shouldn’t be scared because i know he likes you back dingus” she said, as you both walked to English. it was true, Vickie and Robin were so cute together and you wanted them to be together so badly. you sighed loudly and stopped walking to look at her. “god- fine i will. i’m going to his tonight so i’ll tell him then but you better do it Robin. i’m not joking” you said nervously as you heard a loud squeal come from her.
she wrapped her arms around you and jumped around in excitement. “thank you thank you. now dingus i know you’re scared but please don’t be. i’m 99.9% sure he feels the same way” she said those words again. “yeah yeah whatever” you said jokingly as you both walked down the hallway which was still filled with students. you both spoke about how you were working tomorrow and how she was definitely going to find out about how it went tomorrow.
after English was done and school was finished for the weekend. you walked to the car park and saw Eddie waiting at his van, cigarette in his mouth as he waited for you to come out. every Friday without fail you and Eddie would either go to your house or his trailer for a movie night and tonight was definitely the perfect time to tell him your feelings. Eddie’s posture changed once he saw you walking towards him. “hi love, how was English?” he said, pulling you into a tight hug. “hi Eds, it was okay, Mrs Lane just has such a monotone voice i always almost fall asleep. she needs to liven up a bit” you joked making Eddie laugh out loud.
“she does have a boring voice. but come on, i have the exorcist at home” he said, pulling away from the hug and opening the door for you to get in. you said a small ‘thank you’ before he closed the van door carefully. you and Eddie talked about school as he drove to the trailer park, your nerves building up as you got closer and closer to his trailer until finally you stopped outside. “ahh home sweet home” he said as you both got out the van and walked towards the trailer. it was October time and it was starting to get darker earlier. it was already getting dark when you were leaving school, now it was practically pitch black, making you even more nervous to watch this terrifying horror film.
Eddie walked in first and headed straight for the kitchen to grab any snacks he had and you walked to the living room. you were thinking of the perfect time to spill your secret but no time came up. “make yourself at home princess. you want a blanket?” he asked as he watched you sit down on the sofa. “sure, i can get it-” you said before Eddie interrupted you. “nope, i’ll get it just put the tape in please?” he said, walking to his bedroom to get a blanket. you nodded your head and put the tape in the VHS player and waited for Eddie to come back.
he came and sat next to you, blanket and snacks in hand which he chucked all over you. “god Eds be careful” you joked as he pulled you into his arms making you tense slightly. you prayed Eddie wouldn’t notice and you assumed he didn’t because he didn’t say anything, he just kept his arm around your shoulders as he watched the tv screen.
you eyes were on the screen but your mind wasn’t watching the movie, it was focusing on the arm around your shoulders and how you were gonna tell Eddie how you felt. Eddie must have realised you were in your thoughts because he pulled you out of them by speaking to you.
“you okay princess? you’re acting strange” he said, his hand stroking your arm gently sending shivers through your body. you coughed before turning to him. this was it. this was finally the time you were going to tell the boy you’ve loved for so many years your feelings. “i just- i have to tell you something Eds” you said, sitting up from the sofa and grabbing his hands, your palms were sweaty and your nerves were building up more and more.
“what’s up? you’re scaring me” Eddie said as he paused the tape, turning his full attention to you. you took a deep breath before looking directly into his eyes. “im
in love with you Eddie.” you said, relief filling your body as you finally let your feelings be out in the open. “i- what?” Eddie said, eyes wide in shock as he heard you say this. “i love you. this isn’t a joke and i’ve been feeling like this for a while. i’ve been wanting to tell you for ages but i just didn’t know how” you replied, eyes still looking into his. although there was relief in your body, there was still the lingering nerves as you awaited his response.
“y/n sweetheart, you know i love you” he said, his hand squeezing yours tightly. excitement filled your body as he finished that sentence but you didn’t let it be known to him you were excited. “but i’m not in love with you like that. you’re my best friend and i’m so sorry that you feel that way bur i don’t feel the same way you do sweetheart” he carried on, the excitement from your body leaving immediately. embarrassment and shame now filled you. how could you be so stupid? of course he didn’t love you like that. “oh” you whispered as you let your head fall to look at your lap, tears filling your eyes, blurring your vision.
you let go of his hand and stood up, hoping he couldn’t see the tears now spilling from your eyes. “i- i need to go, my mums probably worried” you said, voice cracking slightly as you gathered your things quickly, wanting to leave the trailer right then and there. Eddie followed you around as you slipped on your shoes and walked out the trailer door as fast as you could. “no wait. y/n, sweetheart you have to understand-” “no i get it, i’ll see you around Eddie” you said, slipping your bag over your shoulder as you walked up the pathway.
“at least let me drive you home y/n. you can’t walk home in the dark, i’d hate myself if something happened to you” he shouted after you, guilt filling his body. “i’m good thanks” you shouted back, he knew you were crying, he could hear the tears in your voice as your figure got smaller and smaller as you walked further away from him. you kept your sobs quiet as you walked home but you didn’t stop the tears falling. you had never been so embarrassed in all your life and he was the last person you’d thought you’d be embarrassed in front of. it was safe to say you definitely not going back to his for movie night any time soon.

yennskier post-s2 canon, warnings for spoilers
She stumbles, coughs, and catches herself in the touch of steadying hands. The world blurs, and her body aches, and she is--
She looks up into the poet's eyes, a question in them, worry creasing his brow, and all at once, she is a girl again.
Your worst fear, she thinks, hearing his frantic rush of thoughts as if they are her own. Chaos thrums and burns and eclipses, and that awful gnawing emptiness she had felt as a powerless mortal smacks shut like a parted sea crashing back to stillness.
His very worst fears and hopes and dreams are so small in the wake of her own, but she thinks for the first time, the epiphany striking like a sharp pain, how close our wants truly lie to our fears.
It is only an instant that she looks at him, his thoughts rushing panicked and loud into her head, and then awareness of the rest of the world returns.
The air stinks of sulfur and the sweetness of blood, and she is needed here. She is needed, if not wanted.
She turns aside from the poet and does what she can. She heals wounds and saps out poison and lays shrouds over the ruined bodies.
Geralt does not glance her way, let alone look into her eyes. If he did, she does not know what he would see. Fear tangled in a wish. Longing and regret.
He does not look at her.
She finds the poet, after.
"I read your mind. As my chaos returned to me," she confesses. He sets aside his journal, having been scribbling notes most of the afternoon, and she is surprised to see that he looks curious rather than angry.
"Oh?" he says, leaning forward as though she is about to tell him a very good story. "I thought mages did that all the time." He waves a hand vaguely. "You know just. Plucking thoughts from the masses. Eavesdropping."
"No," says Yennefer. "It's impolite. It's… I didn't mean to."
She feels as though she has said those words again and again and again now.
I did not mean to. I had no choice. I felt I had no choice. I feared that I would become nothing but a sum of the choices I made with my back to the wall. I made a mistake but I did not know what else to do. I have fought my whole life to be allowed a say in my own future. I do not know how to do anything else.
"You saw something bad?" he asks. "Oh dear, I can't say I remember what i was thinking in that moment. Tend to turn off the lights up there when in crisis, you know. Ah. Ah dear, was it nipples again? It's always--"
"I saw your worst fear."
"Ah," says Jaskier. He does not sound the appropriate amount of violated she feels that he should. "I fear a lot of things, you know. Not nipples, at least. Can cross that one off the list."
His expression goes a bit dreamy.
"Stop thinking about tits," she says. "This is a serious conversation."
"I thought you said it was impolite to read someone's mind?"
"I don't have to read anything."
"Drat. I'm making a face aren't I? I always attempt to be subtle about it."
"Jaskier, you could not achieve subtlety if your miserable life depended on it."
"Hey now, I kept up a secret refugee rescuing identity for months."
"While singing songs every night about the crown princess of Cintra and exactly who she was sworn to."
"Er… right." He flushes pink. "I thought you were apologizing for wronging me immensely. Go back to that bit."
"You're insufferable," says Yennefer, but she's smiling. She sits down beside him against a drafty wall, close enough that their shoulders brush. It is the first warmth she has felt in a while. The closeness of his body.
"What's my worst fear, Yennefer?" he asks.
It still takes her off guard how his voice can carry that note of quiet sincerity. She supposes it shouldn't be a surprise. That the endless chatter and frivolity is in some ways an act, only part of who this man is.
She meets his eyes. Something grows taut in the atmosphere between them.
"Irrelevance," she says. "You fear being left behind. Not leaving a mark. Making yourself small for others. Not being remembered."
"Oh," says Jaskier, voice cracking in embarrassment. "Well. Right to the heart of the matter there."
"As I said, I should not have read it in your thoughts. For that I'm sorry. My… control has not been what it should be."
It is difficult. To admit her weakness. His strangely earnest expression makes her believe that he understands this.
"Then why tell me at all?" he asks. How soft his voice is. How quiet, for all his usual volume. She is learning that this strange, peacocking man contains multitudes. That she does not really know who he is at all.
It is difficult. As difficult as it always has been to set aside her pride. As impossible as ever to look directly at the truth of all that she fears.
She breathes deeply, feeling that this foolish man has somehow ended up the bravest among them. He, at least, does not hesitate to speak his mind, thought most words he says are frivolous nothings to fill the silence. But he too has things he does not dare speak aloud. She has heard them. She has felt them herself.
"We are the same," she says. "Our worst fears."
With a careful sort of bravery, she touches the back of his hand pressed against the stone floor. Wordlessly, he turns his palm up to meet hers, and their fingers catch and entangle. He squeezes, once, and she feels as though she may break open along the delicate fracture lines of her body. She may overflow.
Somehow, impossibly, she trusts him to catch the messy spill of her. If he is the vessel that will hold her, it would hardly feel like a trap.
"Yennefer," he says. How gently he says her name. With such awe and heaviness.
"My fear…" she says. "It's…"
"I know." He nudges their shoulders together, tightens his grip on her hand. "You don't have to say it. I understand."
And he does.
They sit slumped together on the floor of a ruined keep. They cling to one another, gripping tight. And for a moment, and in many moments after, Yennefer feels what it must be to be loved.

His obsession
♡ Pairing: Draco Malfoy x Y/N
♡ Summary: Draco has an Obsession with Y/N who has up until this time not given him the time of day, until she finally caves in at a Slytherin house party.
♡ Warning(s): Pure smut, hair pulling, choking, degradation if you squint
It was no secret Draco Malfoy was in love with Y/N Y/L/N, he would drool over her as soon as he laid his eyes on her. She was all he could think about. However the same couldn't be said for Y/N, despite Draco's numerous attempts to get the Slytherin princess to fall in love with him, nothing worked.
In Y/N's mind, he was just another player, who only wanted one thing from her. Why would she give him the time of day when she's witnessed him with a new girl everyday? Sure she found him attractive, but then again who didn't.
Draco never gave up, he'd send her flowers, chocolates he even wrote hand written notes to the young witch, some asking about her day others begging for a chance. But she didn't budge, she'd just shake her head, laugh or consume the edible gifts he gave her with her friends.
His friends told him to get over it, it was becoming comical the amount of times he had been rejected, but he didn't care. Her boldness, cunningness, sense of humour was everything he wanted in a woman. Draco Malfoy liked a chase and he would not give up without a fight.
Y/N rolled her eyes when she sighted the ice blonde strolling down the stairs with an unknown Ravenclaw witch. This was the second girl she had seen this week and it was only Tuesday. She never understood why he continued to have relations with all these other girls when he desperately tried to pursue her. Perhaps it was his way of making her jealous, but it only made her resent him more.
The poor Ravenclaw witch left, batting her eyelashes at Draco. Everyone knew he would never see her again, but she didn't, which made Y/N feel sorry for her.
Y/N smelt him before she saw him.
"You coming to the party tonight darling?"Draco sat down next to Y/N, interrupting her thoughts.
She closed her book "are you going to be there?" She asked Draco who was flickering his gaze from her lips to her eyes. He licked his bottom lip and nodded eagerly.
"Then no."
Y/N stood up and walked out of the common room. Draco was left utterly confused, did she not like the roses he had left her?
"Come on Malfoy, give it up, she not interested" Blaise Zabini joined his friend in the seating area.
"I don't get it, why can't she give me a chance?" Malfoy huffed, confused at his latest rejection.
Blaise let out a loud laugh, holding his stomach as he watched Draco.
"What?"
"You seriously don't know?"
Blaise then dropped his face realising his best friend really didn't understand what he was doing so wrong.
"Malfoy, you fuck a different girl every other day, Y/N sees all of it, why the hell would she want to date someone like that" he laughed.
Draco's face went into a scowl, his tactics clearly weren't working.
"I thought that would've made her jealous."
"Jealous? Crabbe has more of a chance dating her than you" Blaise cackled.
Draco stood up, stomping to his room. There was no feelings involved with the other girls, just a quick fuck, he would only think of Y/N whilst he done it anyway. But she didn't know that, so he would try again, tonight.
Y/N had left the common room only to be shoved into a wall by Hufflepuff who was crying her eyes out, running down the hall. At first she was angry but once she realised the witch from the year below was distressed she couldn't help but feel bad.
"What's wrong?" Y/N asked, rubbing the witches back.
The poor girl couldn't speak, she was stuttering all over the place, but one name made Y/N's hairs stand up Draco.
"W-we had sex and now he's with someone else."
Y/N consoled the younger witch and promised her she would deal with it.
Draco was wide eyed when he saw Y/N storm into his room. Red with anger, she threw her books onto his bed. Her hand was raised, ready to add some colour onto the pale boys skin, but she was too slow, he caught her wrist mid air and pushed her hand to her chest. Backing her against the wall.
"I've dreamed of moments like this, however in them you weren't trying to hit me" Draco drawled, his nose ran through Y/N's hair, inhaling the scent he loved so bad.
"You're a bastard" Y/N gritted, shoving Draco off her. "Don't fucking touch me!"
Draco's eyebrows furrowed "what's the problem darling?" He asked the girl he admired the most.
"You need to stop messing with these girls Draco, they're all distraught after being with you" Y/N growled.
Draco let out a small laugh.
"And you don't think I am? The girl I want the most can't even give me the time of day" he shouted back.
Y/N's mouth closed abruptly, she would not give in to him. "There's a reason for that, you're just a lad, someone who just wants to get there dick wet!"
Draco's frown turned into a smirk "I've only ever wanted you to wet my cock."
Y/N's breath hitched in her throat. Numerous conversations with Draco and he'd never used such vulgar words towards her.
Draco noticed this and a light bulb turned on in his head, maybe this could be his new approach, he was a master at dirty talk. He could easily make a girl cum by just his words alone — which he has done before.
He was slightly surprised that this is what Y/N liked, this only made him want her more, if that was even possible.
"You like that don't you?" Draco purred.
He stepped towards her again, a light pink shade painted on her cheeks.
"Stop Draco."
Y/N's hand went to reach the door knob behind her but Draco's cold hands stopped her.
His warm breath on her ear, he'd never had her in this position before "do you like when I talk to you like that?" He whispered.
A small whimper came from her throat.
"You filthy girl."
"Fuck, I could do so many things to you" Draco's knee pushed in between her legs, spreading them apart.
Y/N's breathing was heavy, she felt herself becoming wet, her underwear sticking to her pussy. She had to stay strong, she would not give him the satisfaction.
"I'd make you cum so hard, everyday" Draco breathed. "Fuck, I'd ruin you for every other man, stretch you so wide that you would be accustomed to my cock only" he growled.
"Shit."
She felt Draco's thigh coming in direct contact with her clothed clit.
"Let me make you mine Y/N, I want nothing more than to pleasure you and make you happy" Draco left a small kiss on Y/N's ear.
A knock came from behind them, bringing Y/N back to reality, she pushed him off her and swung the door open. Outside was another girl, she looked between them both, Y/N scoffed and walked out of his room. Draco was left in awe and a boner, which the unknown girl would be made to satisfy.
Later that night the party had come around Y/N wore her tight fitted forest green mini dress. It had a low back and a small slit on the upper thigh, she wore some black strappy heels to match with her outfit.
Whistles and cat calls were made as she walked into her houses party.
Y/N joined her fellow Slytherins, she was always down for a good time. Drinking, dancing and having fun in general.
She was known to be quite popular, she's what boys wanted and what girls wanted to be. That's one of many reasons why Draco was so infatuated with her.
She hadn't seen the Slytherin Prince yet, but Y/N knew he would be around. Probably with a different girl linked onto his arm.
Y/N found herself thinking about this afternoons conversation with him, she wanted more, but in the same breath she despised his actions.
She shook her head, maybe she was more than attracted to him but she didn't want to admit it. There was times when she would wonder how good he was in bed for girls to be crying and swooning over him. Maybe he was all talk, but she made a promise that she would never find out, even though a part of her wanted to.
Y/N had a few drinks, feeling herself loosen up and wanting to dance, she made her way to the centre of the common room. She swayed her hips to the beat, muggle music was playing which she enjoyed a lot. She closed her eyes feeling the sensual words of the song.
Draco had spotted her from when she first stepped into the party. He couldn't take his eyes off her, even when he had a red head witch attached to his arm. He wanted nothing more than to drag Y/N away and keep her locked in his room so no one else could see her provocative dance moves.
So he made his move, he left the red head alone and slithered through the crowds of wizards.
Finding his prize, he slipped behind her, snaking his long slender fingers around his waist and settling them. His hips moved in time with Y/N's, she knew it was him and purposely pushed her ass onto his groin, causing Draco to let out a quiet groan.
Her arms went behind her wrapped around his neck, her long nails scratching the back of his neck. He had to lean down as she was shorter than him, but he didn't mind, he was closer to her ear and that's exactly what she wanted. Maybe it was the alcohol but she wanted him to say filthy words to her, like before.
"If you were mine we wouldn't even be here right now" he growled, kissing her ear lobe.
"Why's that?" Y/N whispered, Draco's hands dug into her waist, pulling her closer to him.
"Because, I would be fucking you senseless, in this pathetic excuse of a dress."
Y/N moaned at his words, imagining his large hands running all over her body. Attacking her pussy with his tongue, she craved it. She was beginning to realise that she wanted Draco Malfoy, she would never tell him that though.
The music continued and so did their dancing.
"Perhaps if you we're lucky I would let you join the party again, only when my cum was inside you"
"Draco" she whimpered, one of his hands made its way up towards her neck, holding it with a light grip.
"All those other boys that eye fuck you would know you're mine, they'd see my cum running down your thighs, they'd see the wobble in your walk, your swollen lips and I would be there so they knew who you belonged to."
Y/N was wet, more than wet, she felt her arousal leaking onto her thighs. Her underwear was uncomfortable as it was soaked.
"Draco move your hand" she whispered. She felt his hand sitting in the middle of her ass, making it impossible to concentrate and dance.
"That's not my hand darling."
That was it for Y/N she needed to get away from him. "I'm going to use the bathroom" she rushed, hurrying away from him and finding the nearest bathroom.
She took a deep breaths, her nipples were erected, face was red. She'd never been this turned on before.
She stared at herself in the mirror, an awful ache down below. She needed some release, she ran into the bathroom stall, slamming it and locking it behind her. Her thighs began rubbing together but it didn't work.
Y/N growled in frustration and walked out of the bathroom stall. She was faced with Draco, he had lust in his eyes, his breathing was laboured. He leaned against the door, she watched as his hand went to the lock and turned it.
"Draco" Y/N said which came out almost inaudible.
He closed the gap between them, his erection was apparent, creating a tent in his trousers.
"Tell me to stop."
Y/N gulped, feeling his hands settle on either side of her face, cupping it gently, his darkened eyes remained on her lips.
"Tell me to stop Y/N."
She couldn't think, she was too turned on, she wanted satisfaction so badly. She wanted Draco to be the one to do it. His mouth inched further towards her own, she felt his breath on her lips.
"I won't be able to control myself if you don't ask me to stop right now" he mumbled, holding her face tighter.
Y/N had finally caved, she wanted him.
"Don't stop."
Draco's mouth instantly dove onto Y/N's. It was a desperate kiss, tongues were in and out of the others mouths. Teeth were clashing against one another's, Draco groaned at the taste of her mouth. He loved it, he knew no one else would compare to her.
Draco backed Y/N harshly against the sink, her lower back bending slightly, a small hiss came from her mouth at the force of his push. His hands were no longer on her face, they were everywhere. Y/N couldn't keep up, one moment they were on her thighs, then her waist, they brushed against her nipples.
Their mouths were still connected, they couldn't get enough of each other. Draco kicked her feet apart, one hand holding her neck, the other drew patterns on her inner thighs.
Y/N became more desperate for him, a small thrust from her hips made Draco laugh.
"Patience darling, I want this as bad as you do, but I want you to be ready for when I give you my cock, I don't want to hurt you."
His fingers brushed her clothed cunt, the friction between the lace and her clit was sending Y/N over the edge. "Fuck you're so wet, tell me it's because of me" Draco said hoarsely, it almost came out like a beg.
"Yes Draco."
Draco let out a strangled groan, pushing her underwear to the side so he could come into direct contact with her sensitive clit. He rubbed circles around it, causing Y/N to moan his name.
"Fuck, I can't believe I've finally got you like this" he moaned, feeling the wetness on his fingers. Y/N was withering beneath him, rubbing herself against his fingers, but Draco was taking his time.
A part of him wanted to savour this moment as he didn't know if this could happen again.
His middle finger entered Y/N with ease, her wetness surrounding his digit. Draco's hand fell from her throat onto the edge of the countertop, gripping it, turning his knuckles pale. He was enjoying this just as much as Y/N.
Draco's finger curved, stroking her rippled wall. The pad of his thumb still pleasuring her clit, Y/N was close, she wanted to cum so badly. He slipped in another finger, Y/N instantly squeezed them, nearing closer to her orgasm.
"You're so fucking tight, I can't wait to feel you around my cock."
Draco's fingers pumped in and out of her quickly, Y/N was panting against his neck, she sucked and bit on his pale flesh. Her mark was now on his skin, Draco saw this in the mirror and oh he could've came right then and there.
"Oh God, Draco" Y/N cried into his shoulder, he had added another finger, stretching her out and preparing her for his cock. "Cum, fuck I want to taste you so bad, cum Y/N."
That was it for Y/N, her pussy tightened around his three fingers, his thumb continued to rub her clit. She came moaning his name "that's it" Draco cooed in her ear.
He pulled his soaked fingers out, watching them with hooded eyelids. Y/N watched him with a blush on her cheeks as he dipped each finger into his mouth, sucking and moaning at the taste.
"Better than I ever imagined."
But Draco wasn't finished, he wanted to be inside her, he wanted her to cum around his cock the same way she did with his fingers. He pulled her into a passionate kiss, not an eager one like before.
Y/N was spun around, her back against his chest, she was pushed forward by his large hands. Y/N bit her lip as she watched Draco eye her backside which was now exposed to him. He was so hot, she thought to herself.
Draco looked at her through the mirror, his trademark smirk now on his face. His hand raised and fell hard on her ass, causing her to jolt forward "that's for calling me a bastard."
He slapped her again.
"That's for ignoring my gifts."
And again.
"That's for rejecting me."
Y/N was a moaning mess, she was wetter than before. Draco saw this as he watched her exposed pussy "now look at you" he laughed.
"Bending over for me, waiting for me to fuck you."
"Fuck you Draco" Y/N spat, this was why she didn't want to give into him because he was a smug prick. Y/N went to get up, Draco gripped the back of her hair, pushing his erection between her ass cheeks. She let out a small sob.
"Exactly."
Y/N was pushed forward again, his hand remained on her lower back, holding her in place. "Keep your eyes on me darling."
Y/N felt Draco snap her underwear, he unbuttoned his trousers pushing them down with his boxers. Y/N's eyes went wide, it all made sense now, why the girls were always crying, itching to have sex with him.
It all made sense.
He was big, not big like 'oh that might satisfy you'. No, he was big big, Y/N couldn't believe it, she wondered how the hell he was going to fit that inside her. She was definitely not walking straight after this, he must've hid it well because she never expected him to be that large.
"This is yours, after this" he said whilst rubbing his tip up and down Y/N's entrance. "It belongs to you and so will I."
Draco's head was thrown back as he held onto Y/N's hip tightly. His other hand was in her hair, he pushed his tip inside her, groans came out of them both simultaneously. He pulled out and pushed into her again, this time making her take more of his dick.
It was never ending for Y/N, he just kept going, inch by inch he entered her. Stretching her so wide and reaching close to her cervix. Draco's face was red, his breathing was heavy.
"I- fuck, I can't, shit" Draco couldn't form a proper sentence, he was fully inside her, his cock was hugged so tight by her pussy he knew he was going to cum within minutes.
Draco pulled out halfway and pushed into her again, he repeated this action a few times, he saw through the mirror that Y/N's eyes were screwed shut.
"Shit, are you okay? I can stop, fuck, do you want me to stop? Is it hurti-" Draco was cut off by Y/N opening her eyes.
"Fuck me Draco."
His eyes widened, he nodded quickly, both hands were now gripping onto her hips, digging into her. He thrusted hard, a loud scream came from Y/N's mouth. Draco stalled but Y/N told him to keep going.
He picked up his pace, pulling 3/4 of the way out and slamming back into her. He was fucking her hard, with determination in his eyes. He couldn't believe this was happening, especially after their conversation this morning. Draco was on cloud nine.
"Oh fuck Draco."
"I know" he growled, he pulled her hips back at the same time to meet his aggressive thrusts. The sounds of their skin slapping together echoed throughout the bathroom, partnered with distance background music. The sound to Y/N was so erotic.
She was coming close to her second orgasm, Draco must've felt her clench around him as he let out a growl and started to rub her clit.
Y/N had never had sex like this before, she loved every bit of it. Draco's face whilst he was fucking her turned her on even more. He watched his cock slip out of her and then bit his lip when he pushed back into her. He was going to cum.
Draco pinched her clit, which was it for Y/N. She was screaming his name, her thighs shaking, her vision became blurred.
"Fuck, tell everyone who's making you cum like that" he grunted, his thrusts were now short and deep.
Y/N cried out as Draco continued to fuck her in order to chase his own orgasm. "Tell them who you belong to, who you always belonged to."
"You Draco, it's you."
That sent Draco over the edge, his thrusts were sloppy as he found himself cumming. He left bruises on Y/N's hips from his fingers.
Y/N moaned feeling his cum spill inside her, rope after rope of his warm, thick cum it was so much. Draco had never came like this before, he found himself not knowing when it would end.
Y/N was filled up with it, he pulled out, two more spurts landing on her ass cheeks and then his dick went soft again. He let out a string of curse words, before he ran to grab tissue.
He wiped Y/N's red ass, removing his cum and then wiped himself. Y/N was still catching her breath as she watched as Draco pulled his boxers up, followed by his trousers.
"Are you okay?" He asked her with concerned eyes. Y/N couldn't speak, she just stared at him, her mouth agape. She watched him as if she was star struck.
"Say something."
Draco looked around nervously, slightly feeling uncomfortable as if he'd done something wrong. Y/N cleared her throat and stood up as straight as she could. Her pussy was hurting, her ass was sore, she could feel his cum sliding down her inner thighs.
"Y/N, fuck, if I've done something wrong just tell me."
Y/N shushed him with her finger, she pulled him towards her by his shirt. Draco was confused, even more when she pulled him into a sweet kiss. He returned the kiss, melting into it, Y/N pulled away and scanned his features.
He was blushing "do you" he trailed, looking down at her inner thighs "should I get a tissue for that?"
"Leave it, I want all the boys that eye fuck me to know I'm yours."

Get out of jail card
Kazutora just wanted you to have a good life, away from him.
A late, angsty request for @chuuyasfinewine, because I wrote this three times (and to be honest I’m still not satisfied). I hope you like it anyway, thank you for requesting!
Characters: Kazutora x f Reader, Chifuyu
Warnings: Implied abuse, Swearing, Suicide
Despite the protests of his younger self for you to leave him alone, you brushed off Kazutora’s words and stuck around anyway. The things you heard coming from his apartment when you tried to sleep late at night told you that he needed a friend and no matter how many times he pushed you away, you’d come back, because not only was he lonely, but you were too.
His father was awful and yours was completely absent. His mother tried her best as did yours, leaving you alone for long periods of time whilst she went out to work in an attempt to keep the roof over your heads. It was in those periods of her absence that you would go down to the vending machine in the parking lot outside your building whenever you saw him and attempted to strike up conversation. You would never ask how he was because the answer was obvious, instead you’d comment on his choice of drink that day and tell him little facts about yourself until eventually he spoke first. He never gave too much away, everything you knew about him was surface level but you liked a mystery and Kazutora was your favourite.
-
He found you interesting too, you were a welcome break from his friends who had fun by swinging their fists. Hearing you talk about your hopes for the future made him believe that maybe his life could also be better too. Kazutora often wondered if you’d have so much faith in him if you knew his past, or if you’d even want to be his friend.
The more you spoke about your dreams the more he thought about being the thing that dragged you down and maybe what might put a stop to the life you deserved. Still, he did his best to keep those feelings shut away before they ruined one of the few things that made him happy.
“Hey!” You greeted him from your place on the ground.
You hadn’t seen him for a couple of days. It wasn’t unusual but you felt his absence and wished you weren’t so dependent on someone, but one afternoon an unfamiliar car pulled up and Kazutora got out, his solemn looking mother following behind. The banging and shouting resumed soon after they entered the apartment and you decided it was time to go and get a drink because he would probably go back outside in need of a break.
You grabbed some coins off the table by the door making sure to take extra for your friend and you hopped down the stairs, a little apprehensive but happy to have someone to talk to again. Two cans of peach soda later and Kazutora finally joined you, a smile on his face but one that didn’t quite reach his eyes.
“Hey.” He replied, holding out his hand for the money he knew you had in your pocket.
You scrunched your nose up. “No..only if you tell me where you’ve been.”
He sighed. “My aunt died. We were at her funeral.”
You had no reason to call him a liar and accepted his reason instantly and accompanied it with an apology, both for his apparent loss and your rudeness. “I’m sorry..”
“Don’t apologise.” He replied, feeling bad enough about lying to you already. “Anyway, how did your interview go?”
He sat down next to you whilst you recalled your recent interview for a new school and how you would be getting a scholarship so long as your grades continued to be good, and you stayed out of trouble.
“I’m glad things are working out for you.” And Kazutora really was.
“Me too.. school is still rough so I’ll be be glad to leave.”
The two of you went to different schools. If you went to the same one there was absolutely no way you would go through the hell you did. Kazutora simply wouldn’t allow it. At least you’d be going somewhere new without the bullies, although.. if his name somehow got mixed up with yours when the story made the news, which it would, then you’d have to stay where you were until graduation.
What would you say if you knew where he’d really been? Arrested, interrogated, and charged with manslaughter of his childhood best friend? He was only back home for a day on bail.
Knowing you, you’d justify it. You’d take into account his stressful homelife and call it a bad outlet for his terrible mental health. You’d probably forgive him and stick by him..
That wouldn’t do. He destroyed two lives already. He couldn’t destroy yours.
You’d changed the subject as you always did when you got uncomfortable, not wanting to dwell too much on negative things and you were talking about a show you’d watched on tv the night before, laughing as you retold one of the jokes.
It was hard for him to give you his full attention when his mind was thinking about how exactly to tell you that your friendship had to end, and he found himself getting a little irritated at his lack of focus.
“Do you ever shut up?” The regret was instant and the urge to apologise overwhelmed him but there it was. The spark he needed. At least this way you might hate him.
You turned to look at him, mouth open slightly and your cheeks reddening slightly. “..I didn’t thin-“
“No, you don’t think. You just talk shit, from the minute I get down here until the minute I leave you don’t fucking shut up. No wonder those girls pick on you. It’s because you’re so fucking annoying. I just want to come down here and get a drink, not a lecture but I stuck around because I felt sorry for you but actually, you bring it on yourself.”
You remained silent, now starting at your shoes. You’d taught yourself not to cry but you hadn’t quite learned how to stop the sick, guilty feeling overtaking your body.
“Sorry.” You whispered.
Kazutora wanted to grab you as you got up and started walking towards your apartment, but this was good. You were upset, upset because of him. There’s no way you’d be friends with him now.
-
As sad as it was, once someone had adjusted to life inside, the outside world sometimes seemed like a fantasy land. The only things that reminded Kazutora that there really was a better place waiting for him were the visits from his mother or rare appearances from Chifuyu. One person he wished would have walked through the visitor doors was you, but he knew that would never happen. You didn't know the truth about where he was and Kazutora had to regularly remind himself that it was for the best. Even as a visitor, juvenile prison was not a place where you belonged.
Upon finally being granted freedom however, Kazutora thought that maybe he should have been selfish and told you the reason for his absence, because maybe if you knew where he was you would have come to see him, talked to him and he would have been able to stop you doing what you did.
-
He was just about to give up when he saw something. An article from the local news that had been highlighted for matching some keywords, but it couldn’t have been you. He didn’t want it to be.
It was a few months after his release when he went looking for you. Chifuyu had welcomed him back with open arms, a job and a room in his apartment and Kazutora was rebuilding bridges with old Toman friends but he couldn’t settle entirely when one of the people he wanted to make amends with the most was now a stranger to him.
One slow day at the pet shop he started searching around, realising that for all the time he spent with you he never knew your last name, so he typed in every combination of words on his phone that might lead him to your whereabouts. The local private schools never had your name on the scholarship lists, the universities you would express interest in going to never mentioned an alumni that could possibly be you. He’d been back home since his release and your family didn’t live in the apartment below his anymore. The décor outside was too different..
You were fifteen when did it, exactly seven months to the day that he had left, and three days after your birthday. It didn’t actually say much, just that a local girl living in his apartment block had thrown herself in front of an express train, and that her junior high school was sad because she had so much potential. The cause of your distress was put down to exam pressure. It was actually loneliness.
“Hey I just need to go pick up some more cat-.. Kazu? You okay?” Chifuyu stopped on his way out from the back room, tilting his head to look at the pale face of his friend. “What you looking at?” He walked over and craned his neck to see the phone screen.
Chifuyu would never pretend to have known you, he only knew of you from the few times a young Kazutora would tell him about the cute girl who drank a little too much peach soda and made him laugh, but he knew when he saw that article years ago it was you it referred to. He knew how things had ended because Kazutora cried to him that night on the phone whilst listing off all of is regrets. Chifuyu knew he had wanted to cut ties to give you a better future and how it was done was wrong, but ultimately it was done out of something as close to love as Kazutora could feel.
That’s why Chifuyu never told him when he visited, because he’d do what he was doing now.
Crying, slumped on the floor and apologising to Shinichiro, Baji, and now you.

Glacial Passion (6/?)
Regulus Black/Reader
Rating: SFW, T+, NO LEMON
Trigger Warning: Arranged Marriage
Word Count: 1991
MasterList Link I AO3 Link I Wattpad Link
Summary: Glacial, cold, icy… all words that described Regulus Black’s grey eyes. Was there truly no emotion behind those eyes, or did a caring man exist beneath? Could she defrost those glacial eyes?
Disclaimer: Regulus Black (Walburga Black, Orion Black, and Sirius Black) is a character from Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling. Reader or y/n is not owned by Rowling. This work has not been created for profit or financial compensation, and is a transformative fair use work in accordance with Section 107 of the United States Copyright Act.
Notes: No real notes today! I hope you enjoy. This story took a “lighter tone” than I expected (at least I hadn’t expected it to, maybe you did ! aha!) but I actually like writing happier stories so I guess my brain just went “cowabummer bro, you’re writing some happy fiction even if you didn’t want to”
Enjoy
***
"Where are we going?" (y/n) asks.
Regulus felt a bit relieved that (y/n) agreed to come along on his little surprise trip. After last night, which he now realized was a complete mistake, he wasn't sure that his wife would willingly agree to go out in public with him. Especially if he promised some sort of surprise.
She hadn't asked him any questions until they were walking outside, her arm tucked nicely within his. Like it was meant to be there.
"If I told you, it would ruin the surprise." Regulus glances over at his wife. She's got a deep frown on her face. It doesn't exactly mar her beautiful face, but it reminds him a bit too much of his mother's annoyed expression. "Just trust me."
Her little huff of annoyance he decides is enough of a response.
Regulus tries to think of Sirius's advice. Get to know (y/n), even the small things he personally thought were unnecessary to know about a person-- moot things about her. And in turn, be vulnerable enough to share small things back.
"So-- uh, (y/n)."
"Yes?" she looks at him with confusion in her eyes.
"I thought we ought to try and start fresh."
"Fresh?"
"I don't know how else to move from here if we don't have a clean slate."
"I hardly think that would work."
Merlin-- "(y/n)," he stops, halting her as well, "I said I would try to give you what you want. If you shut me down, there's no chance I can."
She gives him a look, "Regulus--"
"Listen," he inhales, collecting himself, "I'm not good at this. You'll have to be patient with me, but I'm willing to figure this out. And I probably won't--" He pauses, "I probably will mess up, a lot. But, please. Give me a chance."
(y/n) studies his face, "Okay."
"Okay?"
"I understand that I'm asking you to step outside of your comfort zone, and I appreciate that you're being open with me."
Regulus smiles, muttering, "Sirius was right." Under his breath.
"What?" (y/n) asks.
"Nothing." Regulus takes her hand in his, "this can be like our first date."
(y/n) smiles, amused, "this is silly--"
"I was serious last night that I will try."
"No pretending. You swear you will not pretend with me?"
"That's why I am asking that we start fresh. Give me a chance. I'm not good at this-- relationships. I need time and patience."
She seems to contemplate his words, "Okay. But--"
"Yes?"
(y/n) looks down at her feet for a moment before looking at him again, "If we're going to-- start over, it needs to be slower."
"Slower?" He frowns. What the devil is she talking about, slower?
"I mean," (y/n) purses her lips, "I mean that it has to feel like we're actually starting a new relationship."
Regulus chuckles, "you want me to court you?"
(y/n) smiles, "if those are the words you think describes what we are trying to do, then yes. I think I would like you to court me."
Now he feels silly making the suggestion because he has no idea what courting entails. He can barely flirt!
"I mean-- I can try."
(y/n) grins. He's at a loss for words. Not once in the time he's known her-- been married to her, has he seen her look this happy. Clearly, Sirius's advice was half-decent. For the first time since (y/n) walked down the aisle towards him, he felt something. Hopefully, the beginning of something great between them.
***
"You brought me to— the Eiffel tower?" (Y/n) looks up towards the cloudy sky.
Regulus flushes, "It's not just the Eiffel Tower."
(Y/n) laughs, "it looks like it's just the Eiffel Tower—"
"Just—"Regulus lets out a frustrated sound, "it's more than that." He pulls her towards one of the legs of the metal tower. He supposes that enough muggles are wandering around that they wouldn't notice the disappearance of the young couple. He pulls his wand out of thin air, tapping where the witch at the hotel told him to. The metal of the tower seems to melt and twist, magically revealing an entrance.
"What—"(y/n) grips his hand tighter, "I had no idea."
"Neither did I. It's called Caché à la Vue," Regulus grins, "c'mon, Mrs. Black."
They walk through the entrance, the metal contorting back into shape behind them.
In front of them, a bustling street moves around them. Wizards and Witches bustle around carrying cauldrons, brooms, and colorful bags holding other wizarding tools. A group of young girls rushes by, giggling in their blue Beauxbaton school uniforms.
"Oh— it feels like Diagon Alley," (y/n) comments as she steps closer to him, her shoulder bumping his arm as she squeezes his hand.
Regulus nods, keeping her close as they walk further into the crowd.
"I didn't expect it to be like this," he glances at (y/n). She's looking around with interest at the many shops and people.
"Let's go in here," she's pulling him towards a shop that smells of lavender and sage. The shop is small but comforting with its earthy color scheme and almost luminescent glow.
"Oh wow," (y/n) detaches herself from him for the first time since crossing into Caché à la Vue. Regulus watches her poke around the shop, always keeping a two-foot distance from her.
(y/n) seems to notice the hovering, "Why are you-- being so weird?" She's got an amused smile on her face. Regulus tries to relax, stepping a foot closer.
"I'm just giving you space."
"Don't you want to look too?" (y/n) beckons him closer, reaching for his hand. He obliges his wife, letting her point out small trinkets and items.
***
The busy street of Caché à la Vue frames Regulus as I sit across from him. Once we had explored nearly every shop on the busy street, Regulus had tugged me towards one of the little Bistros, mumbling about it being a recommendation or something of that sort. I didn't fight his insistence to stop and eat. I hadn't had much for breakfast or lunch back at the hotel.
The afternoon hadn't been awful. In fact, I was enjoying myself more than I expected. It only partly-- honestly, completely, had to do with the sudden changes in how Regulus and I interacted. He suddenly was more sociable and curious about who I was. Which was sort of confusing, but at this moment, I felt more confident in our marriage. That maybe we did have a chance to fall in love, or even just co-exist happily together. If co-existing was all that could come from this, then I wished it to be at least a peaceful union.
Yet, I want to know him as much as he seems to suddenly want to know me, so I ask questions about his childhood and his life. At first, he seems reserved to answer some of my inquiries, making me more curious about the information he is holding back from me.
"So--" I set down my teacup, "how was it like growing up in Grimmauld Place?"
This seems to be another question he hesitates over as he stares down at his plate for a full thirty seconds, making me nervous.
"Do you want the truth?"
I stiffen. The tone of his voice has me wondering if it was a good question to ask after all, "I would if you don't mind answering."
Regulus takes another moment to collect his thoughts, "I don't really remember much before going to school. My parents are-- you can probably tell they are not the friendliest of people." The understatement of the century. "They weren't good parents, if I'm being honest."
"What do you mean?" I suddenly feel uncomfortable as I continue down this path.
"(y/n), maybe this isn't a conversation for public." Merlin, that only makes me want to press for more information, but the look on his face tells me all I need to know at this moment. He will tell me the truth, but if he's more comfortable doing so behind closed doors, who am I to push him for an answer right now?
"Is it that bad?" I do feel a bit sick over how he's reacting to this question.
He looks down at his hands before looking back at me. His eyes are back to the icy grey I know so well. "It's not great." I have to look away from his eyes. "Do you know I have an older brother?"
"But--" Regulus is the Heir? How could he have--?
"Sirius was disowned when he was sixteen, effectively passing the burden of the House of Black to me."
"Do you still-- are you still in contact with him--Sirius?"
"I am, but privately. Walburga wouldn't approve. She likes to think that Sirius never existed in the first place."
"That's horrible!" I couldn't imagine pretending one's child never existed-- "what did Sirius do?"
"He ran away after refusing-- well refusing to do what we have done, I suppose." I stare at Regulus, shocked.
"I mean, he didn't-- doesn't believe in the Pureblood idealogy."
I pause, reflecting for a moment on his words. Is he saying Sirius ran away when his parents tried to make a match between himself and some Pureblood girl?
"Are you saying he ran away from an arranged marriage?" Regulus nods.
Merlin's-- He was only sixteen? "Your parents, they really tried to-- he was so young--?"
Regulus nods, "Too young, I know." Not that I felt the ages we were are any more acceptable, but sixteen? He would've been in the middle of school! Just a kid!
"I can't blame him for running away--" I let the words slip without thinking, quickly feeling guilty for saying such a thing to the man I'm married to. The man I married for the same reason his brother left the exclusive circle we exist within. "No offense, of course--"
Instead of looking offended or getting angry, how I expect, Regulus laughs. A real genuine laugh.
"It's not that funny, Regulus!" The words had just slipped out of my mouth before my brain processed my rudeness.
"You are exactly like Sirius. It's freakish." He grins.
"What does that mean?" I'm hopeful he's complimenting me.
Regulus takes my hand in his over the table, "You just remind me of him. Both of you are unapologetically yourselves. I envy that."
I want to tell him I'm nothing like his brother. Sirius was able to leave the life we grew up in. I clearly didn't have the balls to leave. But, I don't want to say that, not when we're getting along so well right now.
"You can be unapologetically yourself, Regulus."
His smile is small as he looks down at our intertwined fingers, "I'm afraid I can't be. At least not publically."
"I can't exactly be publically myself either, especially now, but maybe in private, yeah? When it's just us."
He gently lifts my hand up to tenderly press a kiss to my knuckles. My breath hitches at the suddenness of his actions, and I feel suddenly warm. "When it's just us." His agreement, the tone of his voice when he agrees-- it's incredibly intimate.
Dumbly, I nod. Regulus smiles, kindness reaching his eyes and thawing out the ice they held earlier.
After a beat of silence, one I could not find words to fill, Regulus speaks. "Was there anything else you wanted to see?"
I find my voice, at last, saying I did not believe so.
***
I felt delirious with desire watching her squirm after my lips left her knuckles.
Something about (y/n) fascinated me and made me want her, all of her. I knew she felt the same way, even after the way our relationship started. I could tell by the way her lips parted and her breath hitched that she felt that spark between us.
That spark gave me some hope that everything was going to turn out just fine.

the garden.
| 1940s!bucky barnes x reader | fluff | mild angst |
You walked home from work, seeing your new neighbor, Bucky Barnes, leaning against the wall of his house. His arrogant smirk appeared as you walked up the path to your door, scrunching your nose at the sight of him.
James Buchanan Barnes was irritating. The first day he’d moved in, he and his friends were loud until the early hours of the morning, drunkenly shouting along with his record player. Then, his drunk friends had walked through your garden, trampling half of your flowers and some vegetables. And he was always outside with his stupid smirk, thinking his pretty face was enough to win you over.
Bucky was also gorgeous, and the worst part was, he knew it. You’d seen him in town flirting with girls in the market, and everywhere he went. Even your friends all fought for his attention. When they’d come over, you’d sit outside on your porch and they would all wave to him and giggle. He greeted them, chattering with the blushing and giggling girls who fell at his feet. You always rolled your eyes and ignored him, unamused.
Bucky was fascinated by you, the only girl to never fall for his charm. He was charismatic and had every girl at his fingertips that he had ever wanted. He knew that the two of you had gotten off on the wrong foot, and you despised his smoking habit. However, he had made it his goal to win you back over, but you had proven to be stubborn. You were a challenge, and Bucky was determined.
“Hey doll.” He greeted you as you stepped up onto your porch.
“It’s Y/N.” You scowled at him, and he said your name, winking at you.
He checked you out, admiring you in your high waisted pants and button down. You shook your head at him, going inside your house, closing the door. You put your grocery bag down and started to make dinner, when you saw Bucky on your porch. You groaned and opened your window, looking at him.
“What are you doing here?” You asked.
“My stove is out of gas. Could you put me up for dinner?” He gave you a boyish grin, rocking on his heels.
“Why would I do that?”
“To be neighborly,” he suggested.
“C’mon. Because I’ll buy you dinner tomorrow?” Bucky tried again.
“You’re so full of shit.”
“Y/N, the stores are closed, it’s late.”
“Fine. Get in here.” You gave in, shaking your head and shutting the window. He waltzed through the front door, looking too pleased with himself.
“Plus, I brought a gift!” He held up a bottle of rosé.
“So you can get drunk and ruin my flowers again?”
“I apologized for that. Please forgive me.”
“You’re forgiven.” You said, not convincing him or yourself.
“Where’re your glasses?” He asked, and you pulled a cabinet open, stirring your pot of pasta. He pulled down two glasses and filled them.
“Maybe I don’t drink.”
“You do, this is your favorite wine. I’ve seen you drinking it on the porch swing at least twice.” Bucky called you out.
“Oh, so you stalk me?” You accused.
“No, you just sit outside all the time.”
He lifted the glass to his lips, smiling behind the rim. You drank from your own, needing it in order to deal with him. You noticed his dog tags, resting against his skin with the top few buttons of his shirt undone. He caught you staring, but he held eye contact, wanting to make you blush.
“You fight in the war?” You asked, and he shook his head.
“I will. I haven’t been deployed yet. Me and my friend Steve recruit here, but we’ll go with the next team.”
“Where will you go?”
“Germany, maybe. Or Poland.”
You hummed, thinking that Bucky didn’t seem like the military type. You supposed it was his duty though, and he didn’t want to be labeled as a draft dodger. You strained the noodles and mixed them with the sauce, serving him a plate. Bucky thanked you, taking a seat at your tablecloth.
“Hey, get down, Pepper.” You scolded your cat that jumped onto his lap. You apologized and he smiled, petting her head.
“She has no manners. Push her off,”
“She’s fine. I don’t mind.” He smiled, and your cat jumped onto the floor, prowling for dropped food. You ate quietly, ignoring his silver gaze.
“How long have you lived here?” He made conversation.
“Since I left my parents’ house when I was sixteen,”
“That’s awful young. Why?”
You didn’t answer, pouring yourself another glass of wine, and he tilted his glass for more. You emptied the rest of the bottle into his glass, earning a thank-you.
“You don’t have to buy me dinner.”
“I’m absolutely buying you dinner. We’ll go out, to Brooklyn.” He grinned, and you rolled your eyes.
“Is there any way to get out of it?” You asked.
“I’m afraid not.”
“You’re an amazing cook.” Bucky complimented, standing and taking your empty plates before you could.
“Thanks. I got that-”
“No, you cooked. I’ll do the dishes.” He turned on your sink and began to wash everything, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. You watched him, biting back a small smile.
“I’ll just be getting out of your hair. Have a goodnight, doll.”
You rolled your eyes, closing the door after him. You picked up your cat and held her, watching him walk across the lawn. He waved at you when he saw you watching through the window, and you shut the curtains.
You came home the next day, tired and annoyed from work. You were in a bad mood, and you just wanted to relax.
“James?” You stopped when you saw him kneeling in your yard.
“Y/N, you’re home.”
“Why the hell are you in my yard?!” You demanded, opening the gate.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve asked. I was replanting your flowers.” He said, kneeling in your garden.
Your eyebrows shot up as you saw the rows of freshly planted daffodils, and you walked over to him slowly.
“Thank you.” You were impressed, and he leaned back on his heels.
“I’m... I can’t take you out like this. Let me change, then we can go for our dinner?” He smiled down at himself, dirt and grass staining his pants.
You nodded, hiding your smile behind your hand, feeling butterflies in your stomach. You shook your head, watching him go toward his house. You went inside and quickly changed your own clothes, into wide white pants and a yellow button down. You fixed your makeup, and went to meet him on the porch. You bit your lip, smiling as you opened the door to find him standing with a bouquet of daisies.
“Bucky...” You couldn’t keep the grin off your face.
“I thought you’d like them. I’m trying to be a gentleman.”
“It’s working.” You whispered before putting the flowers in a vase. You walked to his car with him, and he opened the door for you, being so charming.
Bucky lived to see your smile. When he finally earned it with the flowers, warmth erupted in his chest and spread through him. He had truly felt bad about your garden and spent the whole afternoon replanting it for you. He drove you into the city, music playing softly on the radio.
“Where are we going?”
“New York pizza, Y/N,” Bucky looked proud of himself.
“That sounds amazing.” You confessed, your stomach growling. You’d missed lunch at work, and you were starving.
“Pizza is my favorite.”
“Mine too!” Bucky announced, and you giggled at that. He turned and smiled at you, his gaze lingering a little longer than it usually did.
You arrived at the pizza place, following Bucky inside. He put his hand on your lower back, and you felt the butterflies again.
“What would you like?”
“Margherita pizza. I’m a classic girl.”
“Perfect.” He ordered for the two of you, leaning against the bartop while you waited.
“We’ll take it to go.”
“We’re not eating here?” You asked, confused, and he shook his head.
“Got a better idea.” Bucky winked at you, taking the pizza box once it was done.
“Can you take this for a second, doll?” He asked, handing it to you as we stood outside. You took it from him, and he leaned into his car, pulling out a blanket before taking the pizza. He nodded for you to follow, and you walked a few blocks down to a park, where he spread the blanket. You were beaming as you sat down beside him, the glow of the street lights and the stars making him look impossibly more attractive.
“You’ve outdone yourself.” You smiled, biting into a slice of pizza. He looked pleased, and the two of you found yourselves talking until the streets were silent. You were sitting in front of him, when he leaned forward, kissing you. You kissed him back, threading your fingers into his dark hair, letting him move you onto his lap. His tongue pushed past your lips, your mouths moving in sync.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” Bucky asked, surprising you. You were blushing furiously, and you almost said no, but the feeling his words gave you, made your heart race.
“Yes, James.” You pecked his lips and he grinned into the kiss.
That was how you and Bucky ended up spending most of your time together. He helped you tend to your garden, and you taught him about the plants. You were a botanist with a green thumb, and he was in awe of your tender care of your plants. Every night in the following weeks was spent with the two of you gently rocking on your porch swing, drinking coffee, listening to records, or making out. Either that, or you were listening to him read on the couch or in your bed.
You and Bucky had been together for almost two months, when he came home late from work one evening when it was nearing October. You were waiting on the porch, wrapped in a blanket, watching for his car to roll in.
“James!” You called, and he walked up to you.
“Hey, doll.” He leaned down and kissed you sweetly. You looked up at him, and your gaze meeting with sad eyes.
“What’s wrong?” Worry filled you, and he sat down next to you.
“I’m getting deployed. We leave in two weeks.” He breathed, and your heart fell into pieces.
“I’ll wait for you.” You said finally.
“Y/N, you could be waiting for years, or I may not make it back.”
“Don’t say that!” You cried.
“It’s the truth--”
Tears started rolling down your cheeks, and you shook your head. You climbed onto his lap and clung to him, gripping his shirt and crying into his shoulder. He rubbed your back and held you on the porch.
“I want to get married, before you go.” You said, and he turned your face to look at him.
“Doll, you can’t mean that.”
“No, I do. Marry me. Marry me and promise you’ll come back for me.” You touched his face, and he brushed tears from your cheeks.
“I will marry you, and I will fight every single day to come home to you. I love you, Y/N.”
“I love you.”
For months, you and your cat waited on your porch, the cool metal dog tags resting against your sternum. A box of his letters sat on your bedside table, telling you how much he missed you, and loved you, and he wanted to come home to his beautiful wife. All of your friends thought you were mad for marrying a man you’d only dated a few months, the week before he went off to war. A star hung in your window, and every day was spent waiting. Your garden flourished, pumpkins growing as autumn approached. The nights you spent outside began to grow colder, and you waited.
When you saw him, it was like fireworks exploded inside of you. He was tired, he looked wartorn, and he was definitely more muscular. You screamed, tossing your blanket off of you, and running. You jumped over the fence, making him laugh. You threw your arms around him, and he caught you as you jumped into his arms. He held you tightly and spun you around, planting a deep kiss to your lips.
“I love you.”
“I love you.”
You were crying as Bucky held you, overwhelmed with joy to see him. You didn’t sleep that night, or the next few.

Summary: Benedict and Eloise both anticipate Lady (Y/N)’s social event, as does their mother, causing tensions to rise and panic to ensue. Benedict doesn’t want his mother ruining what he may have with (Y/N), asking Eloise for her help, who gladly plays the role of a good sister.
Characters: Benedict Bridgerton x Reader, Eloise Bridgerton x Reader (platonic), mentions of Anthony Bridgerton and Violet Bridgerton
Meanings: (Y/N)=Your name
(Y/L/N)=Your last name
Warnings: Fluff, fluff, fluff
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
Benedict hastily moved around the house, avoiding his mama at all costs. She called out his name repeatedly, growing frustrated at his childish manner. He was supposed to discuss a plan with her about how he should prepare to court Lady (Y/N), but he knew better; his mama knew nothing of (Y/N) (he admitted, he still had much to learn about her too), and he didn’t want his chance to slip away. Although he was confident at her house when he called upon her, there was a sickening doubt looming in his mind that if he did anything wrong, another suitor could easily take his place.
“You have no where else to hide brother.” Anthony smirked, his eyes skimming over the top of his newspaper.
Benedict sighed, accepting defeat. She would find him in a matter of minutes, especially since Anthony’s office was the last place she would look.
“Please, just let me stay her for a few moments.” Benedict begged.
Anthony chuckled, putting down the papers as he reclined in his chair.“Oh dear, I see things are turning serious quite quickly.”
“Yes, which wouldn’t be a problem if mama wasn’t making this such a big ordeal.”
“But it is to her.”
Benedict knew this.“I know that, because someone hasn’t found a woman to marry, so it then falls onto my shoulders.”
“I haven’t seen you so anxious before. Sit down, try to relax.”
Benedict took his offer, practically collapsing into the chair on the other side of the desk. Anthony stood, pouring out a drink each and handing one to Benedict. Though not one to drink in the early afternoon, he gladly sipped at it, wishing he would just calm down.
“Besides mama, what is going on in that head of yours?” Anthony asked.
He genuinely wanted to help. He felt a slight guilt knowing that his mama was more excited about this possible partnership, seeing as he never gave her the satisfaction of even socialising with women.
“I worry that I may not be enough for (Y/N).” he said.“Of course, I have talked to women, I know the right things to say, but I also know that I will not want to engage in further conversation. Whereas with (Y/N), she intrigues me, so much that even after we danced and talked for hours, I still felt like I hardly spent any time with her. I thought about every word I said, listened intently to everything that poured out of her mouth. There are no other women like her.”
Anthony didn’t speak for a few seconds.“You should write poems alongside your art work.”
Benedict groaned, about to stand when Anthony stopped him.
“I am teasing you brother. Look, it’s extremely obvious that you have fallen for this woman. Putting feelings aside for a moment, she also comes from a well off family with a respectable background, so you’ve done very well in that department. This art exhibition will allow me to also see what Lady (Y/N) and her family are like, as well as keep mama away from you both as much as I can.”
“You would do that for me?”
“You seem shocked. I will pretend not to be offended.”
“I didn’t mean it like that. I know that you too do not like to be....bothered by mama at these events. No doubt she’ll talk to you about my potential courtship all night.”
The door opened as he finished speaking, Violet popping her head in. Her smile widened when she saw both her sons in the same room, now able to speak with them both about Lady (Y/N). Anthony and Benedict shared a look, knowing they would be there for some time.
Elsewhere in the house, Eloise was suffering through a conversation with Hyacinth. As Daphne had to endure, Hyacinth was questioning her older sister, wanting to know everything there was to know about the balls they attended. She wanted to make sure she had all the knowledge she needed when it was her turn to debut. They never spoke of these things in front of her or Gregory and she wanted all the answers. However, Eloise was not revealing anything, and making it seems that everything to do with debuting was awful.
“Go away and pester somebody else.” Eloise huffed as she descended the stairs away from her sister.
“Why are you always so mean to me? I’m just asking questions!” Hyacinth protested.
Eloise felt guilty, especially since Hyacinth was still young and didn’t understand many things about the world yet.“I’m sorry, but I’m not the best person to ask these questions.”
“Why don’t you want to get married?”
“If I explain, you won’t understand.”
“Yes I will!”
“You won’t Hyacinth.”
“You’re so mean!”
The young girl stomped off, having a tantrum to herself. Eloise did feel bad for being so snappy with her sister, but she really didn’t like talking about these things, doing all she could to avoid it where possible. It just made her feel miserable. And who wants to dote on a topic that eliminates all happiness from them?
However, Eloise did find that she was excited about the art exhibition. She was curious as to how (Y/N) and her brother’s encounter would go. For a moment, she felt like her mama. It sent shudders down her spine. It was nice to have the pressure and attention off of her, and to see her brothers in the spotlight. She knew too many friends with brothers who had it easier than the women of the family. Of course they had certain expectations, but Eloise did not see any men parading around in uncomfortable, tight dresses, with over the top embellishments and feathers.
The remaining days leading up to the art exhibition were filled with dress and suit fittings, lessons on the (Y/L/N) family, and making sure everyone knew how important this day could be. Benedict grew more and more nervous as it approached, his mama making him realise that this could be a turning point in his life. Before this was all about him being excited to see (Y/N), to be in her company again, now it was as if he was proposing to her.
Eloise stepped out into the garden, welcoming the warmth that was still lingering at this time of night. She couldn’t sleep, knowing what was on her mind, but not wanting to admit it. She wasn’t surprised to see Benedict already on the swing set, secretly smoking as they had both done before. A small smile appeared on her face as she approached him, making sure to create some sort of noise as to not startle him.
“I’m glad I’m not the only one being kept awake.” she said as she sat down.
“I haven’t even tried to sleep yet.” Benedict said before inhaling through his cigarette again.
“Is someone nervous?” she wasn’t teasing him, she was concerned.
“Yes.” he surprisingly said.“I’m nervous because mother has made me believe everything is depending on this next meeting. Yet she forgets how long Daphne took to decide who she was marrying.”
“You shouldn’t be nervous.”
“And why is that?”
“Because (Y/N) likes you.”
Benedict chuckled."Ah, I forgot you were the expert on such topics."
"I may not know a lot about...feelings and love, but I am not a fool. I saw the way your eyes lit up when you first saw her. (Y/N) was practically speechless too. But not like the other women who fawn over the Bridgerton name, she actually liked you for your face, for some reason. I don't know, it just seemed that there was something natural between you."
"Eloise Bridgerton, what a doting thing to say."
"I am trying to be nice to you brother."
"I know. And I appreciate it, but...I feel at ease with (Y/N), and I don't like the thought of mother's eyes burning into the back of my head. Anthony has said that he will do what he can to help, but I fear that mother will not be totally distracted by him. She’ll know his sudden interest will be fake.”
Eloise had an idea, and even if she didn’t want to go through with it, she knew it would help Benedict.“I will regret saying this, but I shall help too. I will make sure mama is paying attention to me, I’ll let her drag me around and indulge in hideously, dull conversations.”
Benedict had been shocked for the second time that day. Two of his siblings, both detesting the thought of marriage, had offered to suffer through this social event in order to give him time with (Y/N).
“What has happened to you two today?” Benedict asked.
“We are merely being charitable. Hopefully you return the favour in future. God knows I’ll be in need of saving soon.”
(Y/N) was all a flutter on the morning of the exhibition. Her mother had bought a new dress just for this, wanting to impress the Bridgerton family, prepping their halls and rooms for the exhibition for the last week. (Y/N)’s father was proud of what he had created, and that his daughter may be on her way to marrying a family who were held highly in their society. (Y/N) couldn’t focus at all, relieved that her maids were the ones in charge of getting her dressed and ready for the day; if left to her own devices, she surely would have put her dress on backwards.
Guests streamed in, but (Y/N) was only on the lookout for one person. She remained polite, trying to stay in the moment as more and more people arrived. However, she still kept an eye out for Benedict, also staying on her toes. She had many things in mind to say to him, and she wanted to keep them in her mind. There was no way she was going to humiliate herself.
Her heart started beating a thousand times faster when she saw Benedict enter the main hall, the one holding the biggest and most expensive pieces of art. She smiled, and somehow it grew even bigger when he made eye contact with him. His smile was so sweet, it made you fall for his charms even more. Benedict felt his stomach twist in anticipation, desperate to have just a few moments with (Y/N). Alas, that did not come when his mama latched onto his arm, steering him in (Y/N)’s direction. Although he wanted to speak with her, he found it all rather forceful, especially when (Y/N)’s parents suddenly appeared behind her.
Formal introductions were made, each set of parents making small talk about the last time they were in each others company. (Y/N) and Benedict were silent, nodding along with what was being said as they sneaked glances at each other. The conversation was dragging for them, they knew their parents wanted to figure out if this could be a potential arrangement. It didn’t seem that they were going to stop talking at any point, neither child wanting to be rude, until Eloise intruded.
“Pardon me,” she started, sending a subtle smile to Benedict,“mama, I have been looking everywhere for you.”
“Ah, another Bridgerton. The next daughter to find a suitor, I presume?” (Y/N)’s mother beamed.
Eloise hid the urge to frown. Luckily her mother stepped in.“Yes, this is Eloise. I’m sorry darling, I did not mean to leave you stranded.”
“Yes, well, shall we?” Eloise tugged at her mother’s arm.
“Alright dear. It was lovely to see you both again.”
As Violet eagerly followed Eloise, (Y/N)’s parents also dispersed. Benedict and (Y/N) were now finally together, just as they had wished; so why did it suddenly feel awkward?
“Well, that seemed to easy.” Benedict cleared his throat.
“What was?” (Y/N) asked.
“Getting rid of them.” he grinned, holding out his arm.
(Y/N) smiled back, happy to hold onto him.“I was trying to come up with something to say that would not be rude, but would also mean we could leave. I hope that it wasn’t obvious I wanted to leave.”
“Even if it was, I doubt they would care too much. We both know they are over excited.”
“Oh how right you are. I’m assuming your mother has been acting the same as mine this whole week?”
“Overbearing? Overthinking? Over-”
(Y/N) giggled.“Yes, yes, I do not wish to dote on the memory. I am happy that you are here though Benedict.”
“You are?”
“I am.”
The pair’s arms stayed linked as (Y/N) guided Benedict around the art work. Sometimes they joined other conversations, though liked to keep to themselves. It was easy to bond over artwork, especially since it was a passion both of them had. There were no pauses or silences after a few minutes of talking, conversation flowed naturally between them. Men and women also searching for suitors were jealous; a Bridgerton boy had been swept up all too quickly and (Y/N) had been a popular choice amongst the men. However, people could not deny they made a fitting pair.
"Come, let me show you something." (Y/N) muttered to Benedict, easily slipping away from the crowds and leaving the room.
"We really shouldn't be alone (Y/N)." Benedict said, even though this was all he had been wanting.
(Y/N) had a cheeky smile on her face as she tugged on his arm, her steps gradually getting quicker. Benedict didn't even take in her elaborate house, only looking at her beautiful face every time she glanced up at him. They stopped before two grand doors, which (Y/N) cautiously opened, slipping inside with Benedict close behind her.
In the middle of the room was a huge painting covered by a fine piece of cloth. Benedict was confused why (Y/N) brought him to this, until she let go of his hand (him instantly missing the feeling), and theatrically pulled the piece of fabric down. Benedict's jaw dropped as the piece was revealed. He had never seen a painting like it.
It was a large, landscape painting of a ballroom. It captured dancing pairs in the middle of some sort of waltz, musicians huddled in the corner whilst the other guests stood watching; and it was so intricate, Benedict guessed it must have taken the artist months to complete it. All the colours, the detail, it almost looked real.
"This is amazing." he breathed out.
(Y/N) was happy when she saw Benedict's shock."Isn't it? It's supposed to be revealed later, but I wanted to see your expression properly."
"Who painted it?"
"I don't know. Father said he is going to inform everyone later, but it is a new artist. I just think they're work is dazzling to look at. I become mesmerised."
Benedict's focus changed back to (Y/N)."Yes, that does tend to happen."
She didn't notice that he was referring to her, nodding along in agreement. Her smile faltered slightly, which Benedict was able to see immediately.
"What's wrong?" he asked as he neared her, hating the gap that was created
(Y/N) covered her slip up, as her mother had told her."I'm sorry, it's really nothing..." she started, but found herself relaxed, and wanting to tell Benedict all her problems."It's only that...I used to paint frequently, well, I sketched more, though I enjoyed both. Like all girls, my mother told me to stop that and focus on becoming the most desired lady in society. I shouldn't have even told you about that when we first met."
"That's what made me desire you (Y/N)."
She blushed, realising how intense his gaze was."Oh, Lord Bridgerton-"
"What's with all the formalities all of a sudden?"
"I-I don't know. I don't want to ruin anything and it's only our second meeting. Third if you count when you called upon me."
"And I called upon you for a very good reason."
"I was wishing that everyone else would leave, so I could spend more time with you."
Benedict loved hearing her say that."As did I."
Subconsciously they had moved closer, though they both knew what they were doing. Benedict reached down to tenderly hold her hands, causing her heart to beat erratically. (Y/N) had no idea what to do, she only had experience from the books she read. It seemed simple enough to kiss someone, but also the hardest thing in the world. How much pressure should she apply? How long should they kiss for? Where would she put her hands? Where would he put his hands? She didn't have anytime to think as he was already leaning in towards her.
Eloise and Anthony were finding it extremely hard to keep the fake smiles plastered on their faces. Benedict was really in for it once this was all over. Their mama had kept a tight grip on them both, because as soon as they saw their chance to flee, they would. Both had to suffer through extremely long, boring and repetitive conversations, listening to parents boast about their children's achievements. Everyone knew how this worked, yet they all had to pretend to be happy about it.
"Where is Benedict? He's been away for a long time." their mama pondered as they took a break for refreshments.
"He's probably wooing Lady (Y/N), just as you wanted." Eloise slurped on her drink.
"Do not fret mother, he knows what he's doing. He truly likes her and will be doing all he can to...well, yes, woo her." Anthony said.
"I suppose you are right. It feels strange that one of my children are making an effort for once."
Eloise huffed."Oh, do not chastise us mama. We've been doing this all afternoon, haven't we?"
Violet squinted her eyes at them, suspicious that they were up to something. She was about to question it, but stopped herself. They were doing what she always wanted, finding someone to spend their future with. She wouldn't jeopardise that. Lucky for them, a servant announced that Lord (Y/L/N) requested for everyone's presence inside. The guests were intrigued, following orders and grabbing full glasses of whatever quenched their thirst. Eloise and Anthony had got away with their plan for now, they just hoped Benedict and (Y/N) had had enough time together.

The sun was already burning down when Donna found out about her daughter's plans for the afternoon. Apparently, Sophie decided to host a speed dating for her mother in some restaurant on the island. She wasn’t interested in the first place but for the sake of her daughter, Donna decided to give it a try - maybe she’ll find the love of her life? It wasn’t until both mother and daughter arrived at the chosen restaurant when the older woman started worrying about what’s to come behind those doors. The few birds that gathered on the windowsill started chirping as if they were trying to warn her, „don’t go in!” but it seemed too late for that. „I don’t know if this is the right thing Soph,” Donna lurked through the window, seeing a couple of older guys waiting eagerly for someone to entertain them. „It’s gonna be fun Mum, just let it happen,” and with the huge smile spread over the young girl's face, she pushed the door open. Quickly the smell of food surrounded both women.
Only a couple of women were interested in dating as well, everyone was already sat on separate tables only waiting for the main host to start the thing. On the first look, none of these men caught her eye, none of them looked attractive. However, who was she to judge? Said and done, Donna took a seat opposite of a man with full fair hair and glasses. The two minutes started in which they were supposed to get to know each other.
You were sat in the corner of the restaurant, observing the show you were offered from afar. The people, including the owner, were making a fuss about the speed dating someone had arranged. You had moved to the island just a couple of months ago and though such things as speed dating were a pretty common thing in England, it seemed to be hardly a thing around here. Chewing on a shrimp, you wanted to hold back the laughter when you saw the angelic-looking woman’s face when one of the guys seemingly told her an interesting fact about him. She didn’t look very happy with the selection of men. Luckily you had an amazing view of the ocean and you could watch the sun gleaming on the water.
For every passing minute, Donna regretted the decision she made. The first guy was as dull as his name, Tom had 15 cats. He told her a story of when a few of his cats got sick and vomited in his flat. It was a full-on ramble for two minutes not letting his opponent get to word for once. Donna wasn’t sure if she had control of her face, but if she wasn’t at least the guy knew how horrible he was. The next one - didn’t even introduce himself - was shy. So shy that he only stared down on his fingers. Therefore when Donna made the first move and told him a little about her life, he could only nod and blankly stare a hole into the hotel owner.
Sunken in a daydream, you scribbled something in your notebook hoping the words would turn into poems. When you first came to the island you had hoped to overcome the ongoing writer's block, but until now not even the alluring landscape could change that. It ever so often occurred that your eyes landed on the woman with the golden locks not sure if it’s because of how dissatisfied she looked or if it’s her that captured you. Often you came to this restaurant to get the words flowing or to talk to the owners. They have been welcoming from the first moment, so you decided to go there again and again until it became the only restaurant you’d go to.
Meanwhile, Donna was meeting the fourth guy that wanted to meet her. It seemed to be a better start than the rest of the guys, he wasn’t perfect but neither was he as self-centered as the ones before. Their conversation was good until he dropped the 'women belong in the kitchen’ bomb. It ruined everything for her. „Alright people, we’re gonna take a short break so everyone can let the impressions sink in,” Sophie quickly interrupted when she saw how uncomfortable her mother felt. Each of the participants got up and walked out on the terrace or ordered drinks from the bar. Donna scoffed and buried her head in her hands. „This is awful,” it was only a whisper but audible to her daughter. „I’m sorry, I really thought that you’re gonna have fun,” the girl replied. Without another word the woman got up and wanted to walk a few steps to stretch the tense muscles in her leg when she spotted you sitting in the corner of the room.
She took small steps to reach your table, she was curious about what you were doing there all alone scribbling in your notebook. At first, you didn’t notice her coming towards you, but when you did she seemed as if a halo would enlighten her. The notebook was closed in an instant when you realized that you were the aim she was about to reach. „Hi” you greeted her with a wide smile. „Hello, I noticed you sitting all alone,” it was obvious that Donna searched for an opportunity to escape the dating hell her daughter had organised. You saw in how deep of misery the woman was. „Would you like to sit with me for a while?” you requested and pointed at the chair opposite of you. The noise in the overfilled restaurant was deafening so the blonde woman didn’t bother using words and just pulled out a chair. „You don’t know in how many ways you just saved me,” she smirked and brushed a strand of hair behind her ear. You blushed but tried to hide it while leaning your face in both of your hands.
„I saw you’ve been busy over there, isn’t speed dating fun?” you teased not knowing if it was alright to overstep this line. „They’re all abhorrently boring and irritating,” the woman huffed and throws a disapproving look at the crowd of men. You couldn’t help but stifle a laugh, you’ve never had the problem with weird men. „I’m Y/n by the way,” you reached out your hand which she gladly shook. „Nice to meet you, my name’s Donna.” Even her name sounded angelic. The woman’s company brought you joy and even ideas for new poems came to your mind. „You could stay here until it’s over, I don’t mind,” you suggested avoiding eye contact, fearing rejection. „I’d love to,” it sounded like heaven to you. Therefore she stayed and every time you looked at her, you hated to avert your gaze the next second. Although Donna seemed to enjoy herself, the men on the other side of the room looked as if they were disappointed that she left. „One of their cats vomited in their flat,” she told you rolling her eyes. „Aww, I love cats but without the vomiting,” you giggled and tried to find out who it was by just scanning them. „It’s the blond one,” she pointed at a tall, skinny guy. „Oh yes, he absolutely looks like a cat guy,” you remarked dryly not averting your gaze from the giraffe-like man.
Sophie saw her mother sitting with you, smiling and giggling sometimes. She didn’t dare to make her comeback and go through another round.
„Would you like something to eat while you’re waiting for this to be over?” you asked shyly. „Actually, yes! I’ve been starving since we’ve come here and the conversations I’ve had didn’t make it go away,” Donna explained and bit down her lip. You waved for Elias, a waiter, for her to order. You’ve been exploring the island with him a couple of times and learned that he would rather like to work on the mainland as a teacher than work at his parent's restaurant. The food was served in less than ten minutes and she hummed while eating. „This has to be the best one I’ve eaten yet,” Donna declared while putting the cutlery on her plate.
Donna admired you for your kindness of letting her stay with you, she was lost in the eyes of yours and how your y/h/c hair was blown from the wind from time to time. The opened window offered her a marvellous view on the deep blue ocean. She felt safe in your company and the stories you’d told her about your future plans captured her. „Then why have you decided to come to Kalokairi when you plan on becoming a writer?” the older woman curiously asked. „Well, I had a very severe writers block and wanted to be surrounded by nature and I’ve a lot about this place in tourist guides so I decided to come here to get my writing flowing,” you explained. „Oh I’m sorry, I hope you’ve overcome it by now.” „I think I just did,” you cheekily replied. Unknowingly that your time was up by now, Sophie strutted over to the both of you.
„Mum, I’m sorry to interrupt but we’re done,” the young girl smiled while looking at you. „I’d really like to do this again,” Donna circled with her finger on the table, „I’ll just give you my address and you can come over some time.” Donna scribbled something on a napkin and handed it to you. You tried to hide the huge smile that was about to form on your lips. „Thanks, I’d also love to repeat this,” your whisper was barely audible. Donna just winked before leaving with her daughter, she was gone and left you with butterflies in your stomach. That day you’re writers block seemed to be gone and you were finally able to bring some words on paper.
»As I sat and looked at her and the rolling hills she sat upon I thought, what amazing luck I have that the world had created such beautiful things and given me the eyes to see them.« *
At first, you’ve been too afraid to drop that little poem off at her house, but when you gathered enough courage you just went for it. It was only when you arrived that you realised she was managing a hotel. You quickly dropped it off with your phone number written on it, not brave enough to give it to her in person. The following hours consisted of you having almost a nervous breakdown not wanting to receive rejection again. You had enough of that for a lifetime. Was she even interested in that way or was she just being nice? It took her until the next morning to get back to you, but when she did, it brought your heart to quiver.
She invited you over for a walk along the coastline by sunset. Whenever Donna laughed, it felt as if the world was changing for the better, and she smiled like a goddess. When the sun was almost gone and barely visible, it made the whole island shimmer in a shade of magenta. The older woman seemed as if she took a liking to you, that’s when you realised the arm sneaked around you. It was that day when you never wanted to leave Kalokairi or the high you’ve been on since you first saw her.
—♡︎
Over the weeks you two had somehow developed an unspoken romantic relationship, none of you were brave enough to talk about the strong feelings in between. When Donna wasn’t busy working in the Hotel, you did almost everything together, sat by the beach while you used her as your muse for writing or you two cuddled on the couch.
You had sent your work to a publisher in New York when you had gathered a few more poems and one night you received an email. They actually wanted you in New York, the head of the company wanted to meet you first and if everything goes well he wanted to offer you a contract and an apartment in which you could get your words flowing. Although that sounded like a dream to you, so surreal and perfect to be true, your true new home was the island and the mere thought about leaving was too much. That’s why you didn’t tell Donna. You weren’t sure if this was the right time or if she’d even care.
„Why did they have to leave her out, just because she couldn’t pay for the country club?” the thing you loved about her, was that she always commented on the movies you watched. „It seems unfair to me,” you added and snuggled closer. You were partly on your laptop to check your mails for a confirmation on an order you placed. She was holding you close while her head was resting on yours. It was the smell of the ocean that comforted you and made your eyelids heavy. You had never stayed overnight at her house because you didn’t know if that was alright for her, so you fought against tiredness. Few strands of her hair slightly covered your eyes which only caused you to give in to your exhaustion more.
The steady sound of the movie and her beating heart made you even more tired until you couldn’t keep your eyes open any longer. A comforting wave of sleep hit you and soon you were comforted in a dream. It wasn’t until the woman you’d fallen asleep on moved abruptly, that you woke up. „Ouch,” you murmured and your head jolted in an upward direction. „I’m sorry I didn’t mean to wake you,” Donna sounded weird but you brushed it off due to the late hour. „Don’t worry, is everything alright?” you then asked while straightening your back. Only a light hum was a response to your question, she then focused on the movie again. Minutes passed and your eyelids started to feel like cement. „Okay, you know what? It’s not okay. I know going through your things wasn’t right, but your laptop was open and I’ve seen the email from the publisher and internally I’m going mad and-“
„Stop,” it was a short but loud enough interruption of her rambling. Donna's eyes grew wide. „I don’t mind if you’re going through my things, but before you assume something you could’ve asked me, because I wasn’t planning on going,” you didn’t want to snap in that way. Only a regretful „Oh..” broke the uncomfortable silence. You felt bad for speaking to her in that tone. „I’m sorry but I couldn’t bear the thought of losing you, I just found you.” A small but proud smile formed on your lips, maybe the feelings were mutual. „I’m not going anywhere,” you quietly replied. Both of you started staring at the screen of the tv again, wordlessly. „Y/n?”
You hummed in response. „I think I love you.” „You think?” you laughed, „because I might love you too.” Her hands quickly found your face and pulled you in her direction, „Is that alright?” A slight nod confirmed and Donna’s lips found yours. They moved against yours in sync and that’s when you first noticed how soft they were, she tasted like peach and lavender. „Your hair’s so soft,” she mumbled when she stopped for air, after that Donna quickly found your lips again. „And your cute when you’re all worried,” you added when you gasped for air.
That night you stayed with Donna and fell asleep cuddling her. She wore a blue pyjama with puppies all over it, you were gushing over how adorable she looked.
—♡︎
„Come on we’re going to be late for the ferry if you don’t hurry up,” Donna rushed past you to turn off the kitchen lights. „Yeah yeah don’t rush me or I’m never gonna finish,” you replied and closed your suitcase. You were going home for your father's birthday and they wanted to meet the woman that you couldn’t stop talking about. „Ready?” „Yes.” Donna stretched out her hand for you and pulled you after her. „I hope they’ll like me,” she pondered while loading the suitcases in the trunk. „They will absolutely love you, trust me,” you said and helped her closing up.
The ferry was crowded as usual and you two barely had enough space so Donna demanded you to sit on her lap. „I hope we’re gonna catch our flight,” the woman mumbled and nervously checked her wristwatch. „Don’t sweat it, we’re gonna make it on time it’s still early,” you cackled, knowing that she was nervous. The ferry sailed over the water just as gracefully as a bull in a china shop. When the ferry reached the mainland, Donna and you quickly rushed to a cab and drove to the nearest airport. The sky was flawlessly blue, not a cloud could be seen.
Not a lot of people decided to fly to England on that day, you could count 17 people at the checkpoint. In the meantime Donna was a nervous wreck, the woman constantly fidgeted with the keychains. „Ew your hands are sweaty,” you joked when you took hers in yours, „don’t be afraid, I’m with you the whole time.” Donna forced a smile on her face then followed you on the airplane. It wasn’t a long flight, maybe four or five hours. The start was a rough patch, Donna’s anxiety of flying was at its highest and she was seemingly about to throw up. Luckily you could talk her down and she soon fell asleep.
Arriving in London Southend, which was close to your parent's house, your girlfriend's nerves seemed to be calmed and you almost thought she’d taken something. „Let’s get out of here, my brother’s gonna pick us up,” you declared as both of you got your luggage. „He’s very much into cars and all that stuff, so if he’s annoying you just tell him to shut up, I do this every time.” „Oh I hope it’s not getting too complicated so that I can keep up,” she stifled a laugh and cheerily followed you along to the exit. As usual, your brother couldn’t shut up about the new cars he is about to tune, but luckily the ride was only about 40 minutes.
Your father was fascinated by Donna, the two of them got along quite well and even your mother seemed to approve of your choice this time. There have been a few women she wasn’t fond of, almost hated them and in retrospect, she was right about them. As it got darker outside, your father's guests said their goodbyes and left one by one until only the five of you were left at the table. „We’re gonna go to bed, it’s getting late and I’ve got work tomorrow,” your father declared and clapped his hands on both of his legs before getting up. „Yeah me too,” your brother said.
„Wanna sit in front of the fireplace for a while?” you asked as all of them were gone. „Absolutely.” „Thanks for coming, I was afraid you wouldn’t like my family because of how crazy they are sometimes,” you whispered when you draped a blanket over the both of you. „They’re all lovely people, I’m happy they don’t seem to hate me,” Donna joked. „They don’t, they love you but maybe not as much as I do,” you sweet-talked. Her finger booped your nose before she planted a quick kiss on your forehead. „Can I hold your hand?” she quietly asked. You nodded, feeling her soft palms against yours was enough to make you feel safe. While you sat there watching the fire die out, the grip around Donna got tighter, fearing she’d be gone as soon as the sun rises. But she wasn’t, she was still there in the morning and the morning after and so on. You were happy with her, happier than you would’ve imagined.

Chapter 30
You returned home to see Spencer at the kitchen table with his laptop out and a bunch of papers sprawled out in front of him.
“What’s all this?” you asked.
“So you know how we were discussing moving into a slightly bigger house to have room for the twins,” Spencer said, “I found us a realtor and I have been printing out different houses that fit our requirements all day. You can go through them and I’ll send the approved ones over to her so she can schedule us a tour.”
“Alright, let’s see them,” you smiled, taking the seat next to him.
His hand immediately found its way to your belly and began his rubbing motions.
“This one is close to Jo's elementary school but she will only be there for 2 more years but the twins will be going there eventually. It’s just a little bit of a bigger yard than we have here. But, it’s pretty far away from your work,” Spencer stated.
He continued to go through the contenders, thoroughly explaining every pro and con that you wouldn’t even have thought of.
“This last one has the biggest backyard of them all. It’s about 8 minutes closer to your work than here. It’s even got a little sun room we can use as a book nook! It is farther from Jo’s school but it’s about a 3 minute drive to JJ and Will’s so we could start a carpool with them,” Spencer spoke.
“I think that one is my favorite as of now. And, I’m sure Jo wouldn’t have any arguments about being closer to her best friend,” you giggled.
“There’s also one more thing we need to brainstorm,” you began, “Names for the little ones. I honestly spent the better part of the day trying to think of some but I just can’t.”
“I have an idea,” Spencer smiled softly, “Ophelia.”
It was Spencer’s favorite song on your playlist that you played in the car. He even sang along to it sometimes, he actually had a nice voice when he wholeheartedly sang without caring about potentially embarrassing himself.
“Heaven help a fool who falls in love,” you grinned, finishing the lyric.
“I’m stuck on a boy name though,” Spencer huffed.
Jo came strolling into the kitchen to get her afternoon snack.
“Baby J, do you have any name suggestions for your little brother?” you asked.
Her face lit up and she ran back upstairs. She came racing back down with two books in her hand.
“Daddy, remember?” she held up a picture book.
“That’s the story I read you last night,” Spencer nodded.
“Name him ‘Oliver’ like the little baby elephant in the book!” she exclaimed.
“I actually love it,” you grinned.
“Ollie for short,” Spencer added with a smile.
“And for sister, Pinkalicious!” Jo beamed, holding up the other picture book.
“Aw, baby, I’m sorry. I think we already decided on ‘Ophelia’ for sister but we’ll keep that in the back of our minds,” you told her, giving her a pat on the head before she went back upstairs.
“I don’t know Spencer, Pinkalicious Y/L/N-Reid has quite the ring to it,” you giggled.
-
Your maternity leave had officially begun the week before you were due. You were lounging on the couch watching a nature documentary with Jo when you felt the sudden urge to use the bathroom.
As you stood, you felt the rushing of warm water trail down your thighs, effectively soaking your leggings, followed by a searing cramping sensation.
You immediately sat down on the hardwood floor, cringing in pain and exhaling sharply.
“Jo,” you breathed out, “I need you to call Daddy and tell him the twins are coming and get me a towel please.”
“Okay, Mommy,” Jo nodded, hopping off the couch and grabbing your phone.
She pressed Spencer’s contact as she ran upstairs to get you a towel.
Spencer was in the checkout line at the grocery store when his phone started to buzz in his pocket.
He fished it out, seeing your contact pop up, “Hey, love. I’m already in line but if you need something, make it quick so I can go run and get it.”
“Daddy! It’s Jo,” Jo announced from the other side of the phone.
“Hi, Princess. Is everything okay?” Spencer asked.
“Mommy peed a lot,” she started to say.
Spencer then heard your scream of pain in the background.
“And she said the twins are coming,” Jo stated.
“Uh-um-okay Jo, tell Mommy I’ll be there in 10 minutes. And um call Auntie JJ to come pick you up,” Spencer frantically spoke.
“Next,” the cashier called out.
“Um hi, I just got a call that my wife is going into labor so I have to go. I’m so sorry.”
The cashier smiled, “No problem. I think your wife needs you a lot more right now than these groceries.”
“Thank you,” Spencer rushed out of the store, breaking every speed limit on the way home.
JJ was pulling into the driveway at the same time Spencer was.
“Oh good, Jo called you,” Spencer said, exiting his car, “Thank you for taking her.”
“It’s no problem. She can stay with us for as long as you need,” JJ replied as they both rushed into the house.
You were still on the ground, sitting on the towel Jo retrieved for you.
“Spence, it hurts so bad like really really bad. Worse than Jo,” you grabbed his hand with tears running down your face.
“I’m so sorry, love, that I can’t take some of that pain away but we’ve got to get you to the hospital with doctors and nurses who can help,” he spoke softly, wiping the tears from your eyes with his thumbs.
You nodded and Spencer held out his arm for you to grab on to so he could help you up.
“Hospital bag?” you questioned.
“Already in the car, love. You’re doing so good, look we’re almost at the car,” he encouraged you.
“I’m going to ruin your seat,” you huffed out, motioning to your soggy pants.
“Love, that is the furthest of my concerns right now,” he assured you, helping you into the car and buckling you in.
-
“My wife’s in labor!” Spencer announced as he helped you hobble into the ER.
Immediately, a nurse rolled a wheelchair over to you.
“I called in the car. Dr. Collins is supposed to be on call,” Spencer said.
“Yes, right this way,” the nurse guided you to a room in the delivery wing where Dr. Collins was already waiting.
“Ah, the Reids! I guess the babies decided to come out a week early,” she smiled as Spencer and the nurse helped you into the bed.
“I’m going to check to see how many centimeters dilated you are. You can start pushing at 10,” she stated, “...and you are somehow already there. These babies are very eager to meet their parents!”
“I’m going to check the ultrasound real quick,” Dr. Collins rolled the machine over to you and scanned the wand across your belly.
“So unfortunately, we aren’t going to be able to have a vaginal birth today like planned. The baby girl is ready to come out first but she is in breech position meaning she is flipped the opposite way we want her. We’re going to bring you up to the OR for a C-section, okay?”
You looked at Spencer panickedly.
“Scared, Spence” is all you could muster.
“I can be in there with her, right?” Spencer asked.
“That is correct,” Dr. Collins nodded.
“Love, you are the strongest and bravest person I know. You can do this,” Spencer brushed your stray hairs back, “I will be right by your side the whole time and then you can finally have Ophelia and Oliver in your arms.”
“Okay,” you nodded, wincing as another contraction intensified.
“I love you so much,” Spencer kissed the top of your head as they wheeled you up to the OR.
The nurse handed Spencer scrubs to put on over his normal clothes, “Love, I need to let go of your hand for just a second to put these on but then I’ll be right back.”
Spencer continued to give you words of encouragement and promises of all the things you were going to do together as a family with the new babies to distract you from the discomfort throughout the c-section.
When you heard the first cry, you started to get choked up.
“Oh god, she’s so beautiful, Y/N. We made that,” Spencer sobbed.
You squeezed his hand, “Go.”
“Are you sure?” Spencer asked.
“Ophelia is crying for her Daddy,” you smiled through happy tears.
Spencer stood and was out of your line of vision but you could still hear his occasional sobs and him calling out the weight and other things to you from across the room.
You heard the second distinct cry. You could already tell your babies apart from just their wails alone.
“Ollie’s here, love!” Spencer bawled, “He’s just as precious as Ophelia.”
You were stitched up and brought into the recovery room as the babies were measured, tested, and swaddled. Spencer rolled two bassinets into your room with the biggest smile on his face and watery eyes.
“I can’t believe they’re here,” you wept, “How are they so cute?”
Spencer gently lifted up Ollie and placed him into your left arm and then Ophelia in your right.
You held the cooing babies in your arms, looking down at them in complete awe.
“Spence, can you take one of them?” you asked, “I mean I would love to hold them both forever but I’m thoroughly exhausted.”
“Ollie seems to be on the same page,” Spencer smiled at the little boy snoozing in your arms, “I’ll take Ophelia for a little walk and make some phone calls to our families and the team.”
Sleeping didn’t seem to be on Ophelia’s schedule as she was staring around the room with her big wide eyes, trying to take in the whole world.
“Ophelia, that’s your Dada,” you explained to her even though you knew she couldn’t understand.
“Yes, I’m your Dada,” Spencer beamed as he accepted the baby into his arms.

I Have Something to Tell You
Zuko has just started his reign as the new Fire Lord and everything seems to be falling into place.
That is until Y/N finds out she’s expecting and doesn’t know how to tell Zuko, afraid she’ll ruin the perfect bubble they’ve been living in.
It’s been five months since the end of the war and since Zuko became Fire Lord. Life was good, the four nations were in harmony under the protection of Aang and you and Zuko were stronger than ever.
Your family was welcomed back in to the Fire Nation so you had your home back, but you spent most of your time with Zuko at the palace.
There were so many close calls during your time with Team Avatar, which made you, and Zuko appreciate and value your relationship even more. Zuko would include you in his important meetings and valued your opinion, you were there for him when he’d question his capabilities to run the Fire Nation, he’d constantly visit your family and you’d wake up to each other every morning.
Everything was going smoothly until the day you found out you were expecting. You weren’t certain at first, you were late and felt sick in the mornings. Zuko was concerned, thinking it was something you ate so sent a doctor to your bed the third consecutive day you were throwing up. When the doctor told you that you were pregnant, you couldn’t talk or move for a good hour. When Zuko came back and saw your shocked state, he rushed to your side immediately. You told him it was food poisoning and had to be kept in bed the rest of the week. He placed a kiss on your forehead then went back to work.
After your week of “food poisoning” was over, you started to think of how to tell Zuko that he was going to be a father. You weren’t sure how he was going to react, as you knew he was still getting used to ruling over a whole nation. You hated keeping secrets from him but you wanted to wait till you were even used to the idea of being a mother. The situation made you distant from Zuko and he was starting to get frustrated with your cold demeanor.
“Hey, do you want to go for a walk after the state dinner tonight?” Zuko asked hopefully one afternoon. It was week two of your cold demeanor towards him and everyday was more stressful than the one before. “No.” you stated as you read by the window in Zuko’s bedroom.
“Figures.” He rolled his eyes as he turned away from you. “What?!” you snapped back, you didn’t know what it was, the hormones maybe, but other than distancing yourself from Zuko, you also found yourself snapping at him more often.
“Nothing.” He said through gritted teeth as he began to leave the room. “No, Zuko, say it!” you slammed your book shut and sat up from your lounging position.
“Nothing! I’m just not surprised with your attitude anymore!” he turned to face you and you could see the frustration in his face.
“Attitude?! Just because I don’t wanna go on walk doesn’t mean I have an attiude, Zuko!”
“It’s not that! You’ve been so—so—“
“So what?” you raised an eyebrow waiting for him to finish his sentence. “CRANKY!”
“Well if I’m so cranky then why would we even go on a walk together, then?” you were standing up now with your hands on your hips.
“Forget it!” Zuko huffed and left the room.
“Agh!” you collapsed on the couch. You hated yourself for acting this way towards him. He didn’t do anything and he certainly did not deserve your attitude. The whole thing was so confusing for you and the truth was, you were scared. You and Zuko were only seventeen and you just won the war. Bringing a baby into the mix now is a whole different ball game that you weren’t sure that either of you were ready for.
That evening at the state dinner, you sulked on a couch in the corner of the courtyard.
“Hi.” Zuko sighed as he sat next to you. “Hi.” You said back but didn’t look at him.
“How are you?”
“I’m bored.” You laid your head on the wall. “I know. Me too.”
“I’m hungry.” You sighed and looked up at him and he huffed then stood up to get you some food.
You were getting impatient until you heard a voice coming from the crowd. “Move! I have to bring food to my cranky girlfriend!”
“Really, Zuko?” you rolled your eyes as he handed you the plate of food. “What’s wrong now?”
“Telling everyone I’m your cranky girlfriend isn’t exactly chivalrous.” You snapped.
“I can’t do anything right with you anymore!” he was whispering so no one else would hear but there was strain in his voice. “I’m gonna go.” you didn’t want to look at him then made your way out to the balcony.
You were so angry with yourself for being this way. This wasn’t you and it made you think about what kind of mother you would be if you couldn’t even comprehend the thought of having a child. Of course you wanted a family with Zuko, but you never expected it would be this soon.
Suddenly, you felt a hand on your shoulder and you turned to see Katara. “Hey, are you okay?”
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just needed some air.” You smiled but you could tell she didn’t believe you. “How are you and Zuko?” she asked.
“Uhm, we’re okay? Why do you ask?” you nervously stared at your feet as she looked at you with a concerned expression.
“Y/N, come on it’s me. You can tell me, I won’t judge I promise.”
“I’m fine! Really, me and Zuko are okay.” She rolled her eyes as you continued to lie. “I heard him talking to Aang, alright?”
“What did he say?”
“He thinks you’re going to leave him.” Your eyes shot wide open, “WHAT?!”
“Yes! That’s why I wanted to ask you first!” Katara raised her arms in relief, as she knew you were finally going to open up to her.
“Oh no, this is all my fault.” Burying your face in your hands, Katara placed her arm around you.
“I’m so awful to him! He’s been nothing but amazing towards me and I was the biggest jerk!” your face was still buried in your hands as Katara watched you with concern.
“What’s going on?”
“Katara...it’s just...” there were tears forming in your eyes as Katara pulled you in for a hug. “It’s okay, I’m sure whatever it is—“
“Katara I’m pregnant.” She froze as soon as the words came out of your mouth. Katara stood there frozen and just staring at your face, then at your stomach. “I know, that’s how I reacted too.” You turned to face the open air as she continued to stare at you with her mouth wide open.
“OH MY GOD CONGRATULATIONS!” She suddenly pulled you into a tight hug.
“Katara it’s not that simple!” there were so many factors that would make having a baby complicated, how young you both were, Zuko just started his reign, and you not knowing the first thing about being a mother.
“Y/N, this is a good thing!” she squeezed your shoulders. “How? I mean...I don’t know how to feel about it yet...” you looked down.
“We’re only seventeen! Zuko just started his reign! I-I don’t know the first thing about being a mother!” you paced back and forth as Katara giggled.
“Why are you laughing?!”
“It’s just...Y/N you’re looking at all the bad things. Yes, we’re all still young but you both won’t have to do it alone. You have all of us! Can you imagine how loved your baby will be?” she smiled and you stopped pacing and looked at her. “Aang is going to flip! Sokka would spend every single day here if he could, and I know I would make the best godmother.” She winked and you laughed.
“But Zuko’s been so worried about how he is as the new Fire Lord...he has a so much on his mind and I’m so scared the baby will just add more stress for him...” you sighed and plopped down on one of the benches.
“He’s going to be happy no matter what. Zuko is going to be a great father and you’re going to be a great mother.” Katara sat next to you and put her arm around your shoulders. “I was so awful to him Katara...”
“It’s completely understandable, you were scared. Heck, I would probably be the same too! But you have to talk to him.”
“I know...thank you. It feels so good to finally tell someone!” you laughed in relief. You’ve been keeping this secret for so long it felt good to tell someone.
“Of course, I’ll always be here for you! But now you have to let Zuko be there for you too.” She smiled sweetly and you knew she was right. The both of you made your way back to the party laughing at the thought of Zuko changing diapers.
As soon as you entered, you spotted him in the middle of conversation with his generals. Your eyes locked on his and he quickly averted his gaze back to his own conversation.
“Good luck.” Katara smiled and left you with your thoughts.
The state dinner was over and you were making your way to Zuko’s bedroom. As you entered you leant by doorway and watched Zuko try to remove his ceremonial robes.
“Let me help you with that.” his body stiffened at the sound of your voice. “I’m fine.” He grumbled but continued to struggle. You sighed then walked over and helped him. “Zuko...I need to tell you something...” you fumbled with your fingers as you sat in front of him. Zuko stopped then sat down in front of you but he was avoiding looking in your direction. There was sadness in his eyes, which confused you at first, but then you remembered what Katara told you about how Zuko thought you were going to break up with him. “Zuko...I’m sorry.” You began and he didn’t react. “I’m sorry for being such a jerk to you these past few days...or weeks.” You rubbed the back of your head sheepishly. “Zuko can you please look at me?”
“Why should I? If you’re going to break up with me just do it.” he said bitterly. “Zuko, I’m not breaking up with you!” You grabbed his face with your palms and he was finally looking at you. His eyes were staring at you intently waiting for you to speak. “It’s just...” tears started to form in your eyes as you began to speak. “Are you okay? Did anyone hurt you?” Zuko suddenly looked at you with so much concern that your heart melted knowing that no matter how awful you were to him, he was still the sweetest to you.
“No, no, it’s not that it’s...” you stood up and started pacing back and forth and Zuko watched you in confusion. “The reason why I’ve been such a jerk to you is because....I didn’t know how to tell you and I also didn’t fully, I still don’t actually...uhm...the information hasn’t really sunk in for me either, so whenever I thought about telling you, I still didn’t believe it myself so I didn’t tell you!” the whole thing was making you nervous so you started to ramble. Zuko stared at you with his eyebrow up and head tilted so you knew he was confused.
“W-wait I don’t get it. The reason why you were a jerk to me is because you did something I wouldn’t like?” he asked looking at you with a little bit of fear in his expression. “I didn’t do anything...well I kind of did by not telling you when I should have but I didn’t tell you because I still don’t sort of believe it myself?” Zuko’s expression was still a confused one you didn’t blame him. “So you’re hiding something from me?” you nodded and he huffed. “Is there someone else?” he looked down to the floor. “NO! God no, Zuko there is no one out there for me but you.” you quickly grabbed his face again.
“Then what is it?”
You sighed and turned to face him directly. “Okay, I’m going to tell you what it is now.” You said slowly as if convincing yourself that you were actually going to do it. Zuko stared at you with big eyes in anticipation of what you were going to say. When you still didn’t say it Zuko shot up from his seat and started making his way out the door.
“Zuko!”
“Y/N if you’re just going to keep me guessing the whole night you might as well not tell me!” he stopped by the door but was refusing to face you.
“Zuko...please!”
“If you don’t trust me—“
“ZUKO I’M PREGNANT!” the words finally came out of your mouth as you waited for Zuko to react. He stopped in his steps and slowly turned to look at you. His eyes were huge in shock and his mouth open.
The both of you stared at each other without saying anything until you finally broke the silence. “I know I should have told you! I was just so scared...I mean I don’t know how to be a mother. I’m so sorry for taking out my worries on you by being a jerk and I know how stressed you’ve been being the new Fire Lord and I didn’t want to worry you even more. I’m so so—“ before you could finish, Zuko’s lips were on yours and you fell into each other.
“Y-you’re not mad?” you looked up at him. “I’m mad because you didn’t tell me.” He looked at you with a serious expression and you looked away. “But not about our baby.” He pulled your face to kiss you once more. “Why would I be mad about the start of our family?” he looked deep into your eyes. “I-I don’t know, I guess I thought you’d be scared about it but I guess it was just me.” You buried your face in his chest again.
“I’m so sorry you had to deal with this on your own. That must have been terrifying.” He whispered in your hair. “No, it’s my fault, I should have let you be there for me.” You smiled and he kissed you on the forehead. “We’re going to be a great family.” He said and at that moment, you couldn’t be happier.
The next day, the both of you decided to have the gang over for lunch to tell them the news. You told Zuko that Katara knew, he was a little upset at first that he wasn’t the first to know and you understood. You promised he’d be the first to know if anything ever happened with you again and he forgave you.
Zuko sat at the head of the table and you to his left. Uncle Iroh was seated to his right but you haven’t told him yet as well. Katara and Aang arrived first and Katara gave the both of you a knowing look. Sokka and Sukoi came next with Sokka telling everyone he had big news to share. Toph was last as usual saying she was busy throwing melons at strangers.
“Uhm, guys we have something to tell you.” Zuko smiled looking at you while squeezing your hand.
“Wait wait!” Sokka stood up and everyone stared at him. “I think we should start with the most important news first. Don’t we all agree? And I have an announcement!” Sokka started to prance around the table. You started to chuckle and Katara was glaring at him. “Yes, let Zuko talk!” she said with annoyance.
“But I don’t think whatever hot head over there is going to say is more exciting than mine!” Sokka glared back at his sister. “Sokka—“
“No it’s fine, go ahead.” Zuko smirked and you punched him in the shoulder playfully. “What’s your announcement, Sokka?”
“Glad you asked Y/N!” Katara rolled her eyes and slumped to her seat as Sokka grinned from ear to ear.
“I have been declared BOOMERANG MASTER!” Sokka declared while everyone stared at him with amusement. His proud expression quickly dropped and you started to giggle. “WHAT! I am!”
“Who even declared that, Sokka?” Toph teased. “THE BOOMERANG CLUB!” Sokka’s face turned red and the rest of the gang laughed. “There’s a boomerang club?” Aang asked and Sokka sat back down and Suki rubbed his back but she was laughing as well.
“Okay, if that doesn’t excite everyone then I DON’T KNOW WHAT WILL!” Sokka fumed which made everyone laugh harder.
“I’m pregnant.” You announced and Zuko was staring at everyone with a huge grin on his face. Katara was smiling as she already knew, Aang stopped mid drink, Toph yelped, Suki’s eyes were large with excitement and Sokka’s jaw dropped to the table.
“Y-you’re what?” Aang jumped up in excitement as Katara hugged you. “She’s pregnant. I’m going to be a father.” Zuko announced proudly. Aang rushed to hug the both of you while talking about how he’s going to teach your child how to go penguin sledding. Katara started asking you about baby names. Toph was already planning on making a crib for your baby. Sokka was still in shock while Suki whispered to him that she was excited about his boomerang master status.
“OH MY GOD!” Sokka burst out then rushed to hug the both of you telling you guys he’s going to give all the boomerangs he could find to your future baby. You were all so happy to tell the rest of the group and to see their excited reactions. You were looking for Zuko but then saw him hugging Uncle Iroh tightly and you saw tears in his eyes. That moment, you knew you were so lucky to have a child with the best father there could be.

“the stolen sweater” - george weasley
-> not my gif. let me know if it’s yours.
summary: the first night that you slept at the burrow, you accidentally wear george’s sweater the next morning. but here’s the thing, your relationship is a secret.
masterlist
Some people say the way you start your morning is the way your day will go. Well, let’s hope that that isn’t the truth because this wasn’t the morning you hoped you’d had when the Weasley family invited you to stay over for the night.
Specially when you had to keep your relationship with one of them a secret.
You knew the family since your first year at Hogwarts. So many trips, dinners, sleepovers shared with the family you couldn’t even count them with your two hands after that. You saw them as another part of your family with only one difference, red hair on their heads. Like the Weasleys, your family was as big as the house itself. You were the middle child, having two older brothers, one little brother, and a little sister. So, when you needed to talk about how everything was too much sometimes, you had someone to talk to; George Weasley.
Since the moment you met him at the Hogwarts Express on your first year at Hogwarts, you two clicked instantly. Well, let’s just say that when he accidentally exploded your just bought drink, there was nothing much to it. He expected for you to get angry at him, but for his surprise, laugh started coming out of your mouth and without even hesitating, took revenge on that instant by grabbing another drink from the trolley and pouring it on him. Obviously, you two got detention for almost two weeks. That was not a great start of your first year at Hogwarts, but something good came out of it. A new friendship.
But that wasn’t all, with that relationship came another one, just like a package. Fred Weasley, George’s twin. They were always together so automatically you three became inseparable and unstoppable. But, even if you loved the two Weasley twins equally, you always knew since that moment at the Hogwarts Express, your relationship with George was different. He was the best friend you could ever asked for, he was there when you most needed it, when you two were together it was like the world suddenly got better and laugh like it was the last day you two would live.
Obviously, with that, came people that thought you two were dating. But your relationship with George wasn’t like that at all, you even helped each other get dates and celebrate when the other one took a chance and talked to their crush. You finished your last year at Hogwarts with your best friends next to you the happiest you could ever be. It was all perfect. Until, something inside of you changed.
The second that Fred asked you to go on a double date, with George as your date, you immediately said yes. The girl that Fred suddenly got interest in was a coworker of yours, so when the idea that the four went out came into Fred’s head, it was all settle. You didn’t think much to it, since it was just helping a friend out. That was it.
Well, it wasn’t.
The moment that Fred gave you and George the look, you two nodded saying that you needed to go the toilet, and George, kindly offering to go accompany you, leaving Fred alone with the girl he was so strangely interested in. The idea was that after ‘going to the restroom’, you two got lost, giving more time alone for Fred to make his move. But those minutes that you had planned to be ‘lost’ turned into the rest of the night. You couldn’t even count with one hand the amount of times your heart started to beat faster when he got closer to you, or when he noticed you were feeling kinda cold, so he landed his sweater to you. You didn’t know what it was, maybe the dark sky full of stars, the couple of drinks you had minutes ago, but you started to see George differently after that night. You wanted to spend more time with him, but not like those days at Hogwarts, were you helped him and Fred planned their next prank, it was different. You wanted to be more close. Maybe physical or emotionally, you didn’t know.
You spent the entire week confused at your own feeling and thoughts, it was consuming your brain so much that you decided to talk about it with him. Of course, you were terrified. Terrified that he didn’t feel the same way and it was going to ruin the friendship. But the moment that you couldn’t even focus on your work, you took that as a hint that it needed to be talked about.
So, when the weekend came, your heart started to beat faster because you already knew it was the day you were going to... confess your feelings towards him.
Was it the word ‘confess’ your feelings, when you don’t even know what you’re feeling?
The moment you saw him, standing there with that big cheeky smile that you loved so much, your heart started beating so fast that you got the feeling it was going to jump out of your chest. It had to be done, you knew that. You couldn’t stop. You needed to know what he felt, and you wanted him to know how you felt, even if you didn’t even know it yourself.
“What is that pretty head of yours thinking right now?” You heard George asking behind you the moment you put your tea cup on the table, making you snap out of your thoughts.
You turned around giving him a little smile. “Thinking about the time I told you I liked you.”
George let out a smile and gave you a kiss on the forehead, before sitting down next to you. “Can you believe it’s going to be already three months?”
“Honestly, no. I didn’t even know you were going to say you liked me back, so thinking about how much time has passed, I can’t believe non of it.”
Without thinking about it, George grabbed your cheek with the intention to pull you closer and unite his lips with yours, but you grabbed his hand and stopped him from doing it.
“We can’t here, anyone can come in at any second.”
“Dad’s working, mum and Ginny are in the back, Fred is at the shop, and who knows where Ron is with his friends. It’s alright.” He said with a smile and you gave in, since you loved when he got so needy.
You spent the rest of the afternoon talking to George about some new ideas he had for the shop and you got so happy seeing him so excited and passionate about it. You couldn’t take your eyes away from him while he was talking, you felt how your heart was slowly melting and your ears loving that sweet sound of his voice. You were so into the moment, that without thinking about it, you took your hand and left it on his shoulder to caress it with your thumb. He didn’t even notice, since apparently this particularly idea he was talking about was the best he had in weeks.
“Sweetie! Don’t forget to make sure there’s no gnomes left. We don’t want those nasty creatures stealing the food again.” You heard Molly talking fast while entering the house backwards, facing you and George with her back. You immediately took your hand off George’s shoulder once Molly turned around and gave you one of her famous warm smiles. “Darling! I didn’t know you were here.” She said.
“I arrived when you started doing the housework in the backyard.” You said getting up, and once Molly left the heavy box she was carrying, welcomed you with a tight hug, like she always did.
“It’s so good to see you darling.” She said after breaking the hug. “Oh! Do you want to stay for dinner?”
“I don’t know, it’s getting pretty late. Probably should get home before it gets too dark.”
“Then you should stay the night!” A familiar voice talked on the front door. Ginny Weasley walked closer to you to wrap your body in a tight hug. “I love when you stay the night! I miss our sleepovers, Y/n!”
You let out a laugh. “I missed them too.”
“That’s settle, then.” Molly said while Ginny was clapping in excitement. “I’m already ready to feed another mouth.” Molly did a little tap with her hand on your cheek and walked away, leaving you with the two siblings alone in the kitchen.
You turned to lock eyes with George to see that he was already smiling at you, and when Ginny turned around to take off her jacket, he winked at you making you melt on the inside.
“C’mon, I have something to show you.” Ginny grabbed your hand and quickly walked you upstairs, after you shrugged your shoulder at George and he just let out a tiny laugh.
“I’m never going to get tired of eating Molly’s food.” You said as you and Ginny were walking upstairs with George behind you.
“Then you have to come more often, too bad.” Ginny said sarcastically and you let out a tiny laugh. “Alright, see you tomorrow George.” She said but then when she turned around noticing that you weren’t moving towards her room and were staring at George, she quickly asked: “what’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” You shook your head turning to face her. “I just need to go to the toilet.”
Ginny nodded still a little bit confused of your sudden strange action, but still, turned around and you lost her as deeper as she got into the house.
“I may be wrong,” George said once you turned to look at him “that when we tell everyone about us, Ginny is the one that’s going to be the most happy.”
You let out a tiny laugh and nodded. “Maybe.”
“She does love you, a lot.” George grabbed your waist to pull your closer and caress your cheek with his thumb. “I don’t blame her.” He said almost in a whisper while staring at your lips.
“Hold yourself, anyone can see us here.”
“You’re no fun, what happened to the troublemaker I met at Hogwarts?”
“She’s still here,” you got closer to his lips “but this Y/n likes to tease you, a lot.” The second he tried to unite his lips with yours, you pulled back leaving the poor George and his needs all by himself.
“You’re awful.” George said jokingly as you were walking backwards and waving at him. “I’ll be waiting for you.” He said, as you winked at him and turned around, finally heading towards Ginny’s room.
“That was fast.” Ginny said the moment she saw you crossing the door.
“What?”
“Didn’t you had to go to the bathroom?”
“Right!” You said normally, but on the inside you were slapping yourself on the forehead with the palm of your hand for being so stupid. “I forgot.”
“You forgot to go to the bathroom?”
“Yeah.”
Ginny furrowed her eyebrows confused. “Strange.”
“Not really.” You shook your head and quickly looked for something to change the subject. “So, what to do you want to do?” You hoped that Ginny didn’t ask more questions, and that seemed to work, since she did a single clap excited and started naming all of the things she wanted to do on that sleepover.
You spent the last hour and a half talking non stop with Ginny while playing some games you two would love playing as kids. It was like you two were teenagers all over again. It didn’t matter that you were a couple of years older than her, she was just another little sister you adore so much. One more is just nothing to you at this point.
As much as you enjoyed talking and hanging with Ginny, you couldn’t wait for the moment she would go to bed and fall asleep. And for your luck, that time came. You started to hear little snores that were coming out of her nose and you smiled to yourself on your bed. Without making any noise and slowly as you ever moved, you walked towards the door and once you were outside, made sure no one was around. And with quiet steps, walked to George’s room.
As you moved the door, your eyes saw him laying on his bed next to an empty one, Fred’s bed. He had his eyes closed while his arm was behind his head, making him look as beautiful and peaceful he has ever been. You bit your lower lip trying to not wake him up as you were walking with your slow steps, but the second you were next to the bed, with his other arm he quickly grabbed your waist and pulled you to the bed, making fall on top of him. “You took your sweet time, gorgeous.”
“I like spending time with your sister, if you would like to know. We were just talking and time flew fast.” You said as you were getting comfortable on the bed, letting your head rest on his chest and your hand caressing his stomach.
“About what?” He asked almost in a whisper.
“Life. Our memories at Hogwarts.” You said and George let out a tiny laugh.
“Hope all good.”
“Yeah. I mean, I had you and Fred as best friends, what could possible go wrong?” You asked sarcastically since almost everything, like you remembered, went wrong ending up in detention.
“We had a great time.” He said and you nodded against his chest. “But it did go fast. Look at us now.”
“Yeah.” You said so softly while remembering all those old memories that your word were almost covered by the wind blowing outside. You felt your feet getting a little bit cold so you pressed them against George’s legs and immediately felt his heat going towards you, but it wasn’t enough.
“Do you think it’s time?” George asked out of the blue and you lifted your head to give him a quick look with your eyebrows furrowed, but then went back to his chest.
“Time for what?”
“To tell everyone.”
You let out a sigh and closed your eyes while thinking your next words. You remembered the moment that you two decided to finally be a thing and to also, keep it a secret. At the moment, it seemed the right thing to do. His family and you were extremely close, so close that they were your second family. The idea of dating never crossed your mind as you were growing up, until it happened. You had denied liking George romantically multiple times, so when it finally happened it was even weirder for you. And it’s not like you expect it to be weird for the Weasley family, the opposite. The amount of times Molly said jokingly that you would make a perfect couple for one of the twins you couldn’t even count them with one hand. So, it wasn’t news that you dating one of them wasn’t going to pass as some news that they talk for a week and then carry on like it’s normal. Because it wouldn’t. You didn’t want to get anyone hopes up of you two working and living the happily ever after, like Molly and Arthur wanted for the children, and then the relationship not working and ruining what you had with the entire family.
You and George not working out was not even in your list of things that could happen, but in reality, it could. So, you two decided to wait and see how the thing was going to turn out. And it did, better than you ever imagined it could.
“I mean,” George added since he noticed your silent. “we decided to tell them once we were ready and we started to noticed our relationship was working... do you think it’s working?”
“Yeah.” You said softly after looking at him with your elbows against the bed. He let out a tiny smile and you couldn’t help but unite his lips with yours. You immediately felt his cold lips but you didn’t mind, somehow it did bring warmth to your body.
“You’re freezing.” George said once he touched your arm and he felt the coldness of it.
“I didn’t plan to stay the night, so I didn’t bring any warmer clothes.” You said shrugging your shoulders with the intention to go back to your prior position but George gently pulled you back and got out of bed and went to the tiny closet he had between the two bed.
After a couple of seconds looking for something, he finally did and let out a tiny smile. “Here.” He said once he handed a tiny sweater that had the letter “G” on it. “Mum made it my second year of Hogwarts, I think it’s going to go well.”
“Perfect.” You said once you put it on and you felt how the warmth or if immediately hit your body.
“You look adorable.” He said getting closer to you and leaving a kiss on your forehead.
“Bless your mum.” You said caressing your arms while you waited for George to get back on the bed so you could rest your head against his chest once again.
Moments had passed in silence while he was caressing your head and you were slowly feeling how your eyes were getting heavy and your body giving up to the bed and comfort you were feeling. But when your head remembered you were on his room, your eyes quickly went open.
“I should probably go, we don’t want anyone coming in and seeing me here.”
George didn’t respond immediately, so you looked at him and let out a tiny smile when you saw him so peacefully. You got closer to his face to give a kiss on his lips, but before you could do it, he said “5 more minutes?” You let out a tiny smile and melted on the inside.
“5 more minutes.”
“I’m disappointed you guys didn’t invite me to the party.” That was the first thing you heard before you opened your eyes with a familiar voice. It took you and your just woken up brain to realise what was in front of you.
You looked at the red haired boy that you had in front of with a cheeky smile on his face. You were about to smile but then you noticed it was the wrong twin.
“Fred!” You said in a loud whisper getting up from the bed, making George quickly wake up and stare with sleepy eyes at his brother.
“Did you two had fun last night?” Fred asked grinning at you and then his twin.
“What?” You asked and then closed your eyes with strength. “Oh fuck.”
“Oh fuck indeed.” He added. “So, when did it all start?”
You turned to George who was staring at you with a smile. He just shrugged his shoulders and you nodded, biting your lip and locking eyes with Fred, who was patiently waiting for the two of us to talk. “Do you have time?” You asked before deciding to tell every single detail.
After telling everything to Fred, he just shrugged his shoulders and added, before leaving the room; “I’m not surprised. Still sad you didn’t invite me to the party.”
George threw a pillow at him and you bit your lower lip trying to hide the smile that wanted to come out.
“Breakfast!” You heard Molly yell once you stepped on the staircase towards the kitchen.
“Mum! Smells great.” George said.
“Like always.” Fred added, giving Molly a kiss on the forehead.
“Y/n, darling,” Molly looked at you while walking towards you with her arms wide open to give you a tight hug. “did you sleep well?”
“Perfectly.” You said with a smile and gave George a quick look.
“Did Ginny let you sleep? She gets a little bit chatty sometimes.”
“No I don’t!” Ginny appeared at the end of the staircase and you let out a tiny laugh. She walked closer to you and wrapped her arms around your shoulder. “Where did you go last night?” She asked and you quickly turned to see if Molly was gone, and for you luck she was and didn’t hear Ginny’s question.
“What?” You asked pretending to not have heard her but before she could repeat herself, Molly spoke before her.
“Was it cold in Ginny’s room yesterday?” She asked and you quickly turned to her.
“What?” You and George asked at the same time. Both Ginny and Molly turned to George confused but then carried on.
“Was it?” Molly asked again. “Because I’ve noticed you burrowed one of her sweaters.”
You felt how your heart dropped to your stomach once you looked down and noticed you were still wearing Goerge’s sweater that he let you use last night. Your brain was looking for excuses to say, but nothing was coming to you.
“That’s not mine.” Ginny said.
“What?” Molly asked confused. “But it has the ‘G’ in it.”
“I don’t remember this sweater being mine.”
You turned to George when your brain couldn’t think of the next thing to say. You two kept staring at each other and even though no words were coming of each other’s mouth, you two knew exactly what the other was thinking.
“Oh, now I remember!” Ginny said, before any words could come out of your mouth or George’s. You turned to her and you noticed something clicked on her brain, since she saw you and George staring at each other. “Yes, it’s mine. I forgot I had it.” She said and then a big smile appeared on her face.
“Oh, good. Now, everyone come sit down, eat your breakfast.” Molly said, thankfully, forgetting about the whole thing immediately.
You turned to George who had a little smile on his face, and when no one was looking, he winked at you which lead you to melt on the inside and your heart to skip a beat. But before you could do anything about it, you felt Ginny grabbing your arm and pulling you aside where no one could hear her.
“So that’s where you were last night?” She asked in a loud whisper and you furrowed your eyebrows confused.
“What?” You asked, hoping that she would soon forget and drop it, but knowing Ginny she wasn’t going to do it. And you knew her very well.
“C’mon, the ‘G’? That’s George’s sweater!” She said more loudly and then looked back hoping no one heard her.
“You’re too smart for your own good, you know that?”
Ginny let out an excited smile and then added, more calmly: “Mrs. Y/n. Weasley. I like that.” She nodded and then without giving you any time to answer, turned around to join her brothers at the table.
You stayed there for a couple of seconds smiling, pretending to not be so in love with that too.

Huck Finnigan x Plus size!reader
Word Count: 2340 words
Warnings: none
Summary: Huck developing feelings for the reader, a patient who is equally as unsure of herself as he is
—————————————————————————————————
You woke up today as you did every day, in your room at the Lucia State Psychiatric Hospital, the light blaring in through the sliver separating the curtains.
It wasn’t a remarkable life.
If anything, it was boring and routine but at the very least, it kept you from hurting yourself. Besides, living in a facility like this wasn’t always bad. The food wasn’t too bad and you were allowed to bathe yourself, as long as you behaved.
For someone like you, it was an easy life. You had been hospitalised there due to a general diagnosis of melancholy, which made your family fear for your safety. Though, you always thought they just wanted to find somewhere to send you off to.
A young woman like you, unmarried and without prospects, was little more than a burden.
Some may have been upset about being sent off to stay in an institute like this one, taken away from everything they knew and left to die, but you didn’t see too much wrong with it. For someone like you, it wasn’t awful.
You were well taken care of, and even you had to admit that you were happier within these walls than you had been out there.
Not that all that change came from staying here alone.
In all the time that you had been staying in this place, you had found quite the interesting friend in a young orderly by the name of Huck Finnegan. He was interesting to you, as he was the sort of man who took care of other people even when it was difficult.
You knew that you didn’t have that much patience in your little finger, but he didn’t seem to have a problem with it. In fact, Huck seemed to get a special kind of joy from taking care of other people, including you.
He really seemed to like coming to see you.
He was constantly coming to visit you during the day, checking on you and making sure that you had everything you needed, which might not have seemed so strange. After all, it was his job to make sure that the patients here were taken care of.
However, while you thought that he was just doing his job at first, taking his turn to do the rounds, eventually, it was hard to believe.
It just didn’t seem plausible.
You knew for a fact that no one else ever took his place and when his visits came so frequently, it was becoming harder and hard to dismiss it as anything other than what it was.
Huck was sweet on you.
You didn’t really understand it, of course, and you weren’t entirely sure but there didn’t seem to be too many more reasons to be so attentive to another person. You certainly had never paid such close attention to someone else, unless you cared about them.
...And while it was possible you were way off base, it was a thought you couldn’t shake.
As far as you were concerned, someone like Huck would never be interested in you.
It didn’t make any sense to you, because you didn’t have anything to offer him. He was selfless and kind, thinking about others at all times and if the rumors were to be believed, he always had been.
Compared to all the things he’d done and all the people he’d saved, you looked like little more than a petulant child.
All things considered, you couldn’t have imagined him finding anything about you to love but in the months that you’d been here, something had certainly developed between you. While you weren’t sure what it was, it didn’t really matter.
You didn’t mind the company.
As far as the folks in this place went, you could have done a lot worse than a handsome war veteran.
If nothing else, he was a good person and talking to him was going to be much better for your mental state than the other patients.
Then, as if thinking about him had somehow encouraged the man’s entrance, there was a knock at your door.
“Good afternoon, can I come in?”
His words came as similarly as they did every day, meeting your ears in tandem with his knocking on the door. Technically, he didn’t have to do you the courtesy of knocking on the door or asking for entrance at all, but it was kind of him to do so.
It was a very human gesture, one that none of the other orderlies or nurses offered you.
Still, just as you did every day, you called out in affirmation, glad to see that Huck was one again coming to check on you. Of all the staff in the Lucia State Psychiatric Hospital, he was by far your favorite.
He was just so nice and polite.
...And it certainly didn’t hurt that he was more handsome than any man you’d ever seen.
Huck’s attractiveness went much deeper than his skin, which wasn’t altogether unattractive to begin with. It was just that the person he was, the person that lived within the skin was far too darling to ever let go of.
You really weren’t sure if you’d ever met a more wonderful person in your life.
“How are you today?” he asked, stepping into the room as casually as he could and closing the door behind him. You knew that this was one of those friendly visits, because you’d already had all your checkups and medicine that you would for the day.
He didn’t have any real reason to be here, but you were just as glad to see him anyway.
“I’m as good as I could be '' you shrugged, caught somewhere between being happy to see him and wishing that you could have met under different circumstances. When you really thought about it, you must have been crazier than any of them to think he could actually like you.
You were a patient of his.
You were out of your mind.
A man like Huck would never be interested in a chubby sad sack with nothing more to live for than walking around the hospital and doodling on your arm in pen. He was a hero, a beautiful soul, and someone you couldn’t have hoped to entice.
He was too good for you.
“Yeah? You’re doing alright? No distasteful thoughts or negativity this morning?” he hummed, doing the same thing he did every day, starting at the door with his arms folded behind his back. These visits always started off as clinical and professional as possible.
Though, before long, you knew well enough to know that Huck would be cracking jokes and smiling as if the two of you were little more than lifelong friends, catching up.
It was just the way this whole thing went.
“Nope, all good here” you teased, putting on your best cheesy grin as if that would somehow convince him. You did seem to be in good spirits today, compared to when you had a bad day, but that didn’t mean you were completely out of the woods.
If it was that easy to convince him, you wouldn’t have been here in the first place.
“Really, cause you kinda have that far off look in your eye again today” he prodded, relaxing a little further, just enough to let himself sit down on the far end of your bed.
It was a more intimate stance than he would ever take with another patient, not that he was going to tell you that. There was just something about you, and he felt really comfortable when he was with you.
Naturally, that kind of comforting energy made him much more calm and casual than he may have been otherwise.
Damn it.
You really didn’t want to tell him about the dreary realization you had just made but you knew well enough to know that Huck wasn’t going anywhere until you opened up and told him what was up.
By this point in your residence here, he knew you well enough to know when you had something on your mind.
“It’s no big deal. I just thought something was happening that wasn’t” you tried, keeping it as vague as you could while still telling him enough to satisfy him. Considering what you were here for, it was much better to just talk to him than it would be to talk to everyone else.
Nurse Ratched tried her best to be understanding of your condition, much more than Bucket ever had, but they didn’t come close to the bond you shared with Huck.
You knew that he wouldn’t judge you, for even your most embarrassing secrets, and thoughts.
He was a real friend in that way.
“Tell me” he prompted, using the guiss of his profession to get you to talk to him, though you both knew that this was more of a personal suggestion than a professional one. He wanted to bond with you, to help you be better in a real way, but it wasn’t really that easy.
Getting you to open up to him in that way would require him giving away all of his own secrets.
You sighed again, of course.
The two of you had a lot of history between you in all the time you’d been living here but in regards to the feelings you shared for one another, you just didn’t talk about it. It was much easier to just dance around them, avoiding speaking it into life at all costs.
Both of you were too terrified of rejection to put yourselves out there.
“Why do you come here to see me every day? I mean, you don’t bring anything or need to take the time out? What is it about me?” you asked, trying your best to keep your wits about you, desperately avoiding making a fool out of yourself.
From where you were sitting, it seemed like Huck could leave at any time and never come back. It just seemed like you were reading too much into this and you were scared that you were going to ruin the whole relationship you had going.
You were friends.
If you made some kind of suggestion here that offended him, there was a good chance you would hardly see him around here at all.
Huck seemed taken aback by your question at first, partially because he hadn’t been expecting it, and mostly because he wasn’t sure how to answer. After all, he knew exactly what it was about you and why he was sitting here right now, but putting it into words was hardly easy.
He hadn’t been expecting to get into this today.
“I guess I like your company” he decided, figuring that would be the best way to say it without offending you somehow. Huck wasn’t blind to the reality of what he was, or what he looked like, and he was terrified to suggest what he was thinking.
After all, a woman like you had no real reason to ever give a man like him the time of day.
He had seen himself in the mirror. Huck was well aware of what he looked like, and he was hardly a male model. At this point in his life, he considered himself lucky to be alive, and didn’t think too much about what he looked like, until now.
Where you were concerned, he was painfully aware of his outward appearance.
The two of you had that in common, because you couldn’t imagine any man, let alone a wonderful man like Huck ever falling for someone like you. It seemed as if, at this point, the only thing you two could agree on was the fact that you couldn’t admit how you felt.
It was hardly ideal.
“Well, I enjoy your company too” you smiled, content to leave it at that. However, Huck wasn’t quite ready to just call it there.
As terrified as he was to do what he was about to do, it seemed like if there was ever going to be a time to do it, it was now.
The two of you had been doing this whole thing, dancing around your feelings for each other for months, and he didn’t want to do it anymore.
He had to know if you felt the same, and your admission just now seemed like the push he’d been waiting for.
“This might be a little forward, and forgive me if it is, but would you like to join me for dinner tonight?” Huck tried, fidgeting light with his fingers as he did his best to get the words out.
This feeling was new for him.
He was used to being uncertain sometimes and uncomfortable with certain situations but this was something else entirely.
It actually felt like his heart may burst out of his chest, it was beating so fast.
...and you weren’t much better.
The idea of what he was asking you was insane. It wasn’t like you didn’t want to, of course, dinner with Huck sounded amazing.
There was just one problem.
You couldn’t exactly hit the town whenever you felt like it.
“I would love to, but you know as well as I do that I can’t just waltz out the door” you reminded, once again put in your place.
Huck could go out and get anyone he wanted. It just didn’t make sense that he wanted to wait around here with you. You could hardly imagine how something like that would even work.
Thankfully, Huck was already way ahead of you.
He already spent more time here than he did anywhere else, and making a few adjustments to his plans on your account wasn’t going to kill him.
If it meant that the two of you could be together, he would do whatever he had to.
“You let me worry about that” he hummed, not even bothering to hide the huge grin on his face. After all this time, he’d finally done it.
Huck got the date.

You are Pretty
I feel bad for not posting any scenarios the past few days. First, because the internet is shitty. Second, I can't sit down in front of my laptop. Third, I've been feeling a little under the weather. I know, reasons.
But here's a little scenario to make up for the lack of updates. ☺️ Please enjoy.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
"To the world, we are NCT 127." The guys greeted their signature greeting before bowing down that made the women in front of them clap. The nine boys started introducing themselves one by one to fully get acquainted with the people they will be working with today. "We're at your service today." Taeyong said rather charmingly that made the head teacher giggle.
For a TV show, the NCT 127 members are asked to aid in a local day care center. It is 5am, too early for filming but they needed to do this for the fans. The teachers introduced themselves one by one, even telling the boys that there are two groups of class, Taio and Pororo.
Earlier, they had chosen their classes. Yuta was adamant in staying with Pororo class since they're the older group of kids and they're easier to play with. They were given certain instructions by the teachers handling the classes when the door opened that took everyone's attention. A gasp can be heard and the members' eyes were on the Japanese man who created the said sound.
"I'm sorry, saem." A younger girl, probably their age, kept on bowing as she removed her jacket and placed it to the side. "I'm really sorry I'm late."
The older woman shook her head, asking the younger to sit beside her. "This is teacher Y/N. She's a new teacher here in class Taio." Yuta hissed and the members looked at him, giggling. He's so transparent. "They are NCT 127." She bowed at them, smiling.
"Jungwoo, exchange with me." Yuta pleaded that made the younger shake his head. "My love life depends on you." Haechan chuckled. "I'll buy you beef."
"For a month?" Jungwoo said and Johnny giggled.
"A week." The younger glared and Yuta rubbed his palms together. Jungwoo nodded. He just needed to put on his charm and make the girl look at him.
But it was a hard task, given that he had to take care of the students and they're in front of the cameras at that. Slowly, the kids are entering the class which makes him nervous. They looked so wary of them, since they're strangers but it was her who made the kids comfortable with the cameras and the new teachers.
Yuta, Taeyong, Mark, Haechan, and Doyoung played with the toddlers in the class, giving extra attention since they're younger. The Japanese member of NCT was playing with two boys when one boy accidentally hit Yuta on the face. "Teacher Y/N…" one girl called, "Siwoo punched Yuta saem."
The said kid cried and Yuta panicked. Y/N knelt in front of the kid, holding his shoulder. "I didn't punch saem." Siwoo kept on crying then hugged Y/N. Yuta smiled. That's so cute.
"I know, Siwoo. But let's be careful when playing next time, hmm?" Her voice is really pretty. "Did you say sorry to Yuta saem?" He shook his head then cried some more.
Y/N wiped his tears with her thumbs and Siwoo faced him. "I'm sorry, saem. Are you hurt?"
Yuta shook his head. "It was an accident. I'm fine."
"Can I join the story time later?" Siwoo asked and Y/N looked surprised at that. "I like your storytime, Y/N saem."
She smiled that made Yuta gasp. God, she's so pretty that he can feel his heart stopping in his chest. "Of course, Siwoo." There's a slight strain on her voice. Is she going to cry? "Everyone is welcomed during storytime."
"Can I also join storytime, saem?" The girl turned to him, nodding. Wow, she is really pretty. The cameraman behind them lightly coughed, some staff giggling while watching them.
It amazes him how the fourteen students ranging from four to five year olds were behaved and seated on the mat cross legged and facing Y/N who was seated in front with a story book at hand. They were all so energetic earlier but now they're seated cross-legged like little angels.
He was also amazed at how she captured all their attention with her animated voice that even the grown ups were fully focused on her. She even asked the guest teachers and some kids to engage them in the story telling. Now, he understood why Siwoo seemed to like storytimes with her. She really has a soothing voice. Even her small giggles are so infectious that it makes him smile. She's so… "...Yuta saem?"
"Pretty." Yuta exclaimed. "You are pretty." Oh shit.
He saw the surprise in her expression then heard his co-members giggling. "Did the wolf like Little Red Riding Hood?" One student asked. "Maybe he also wanted her red hood?" Another student said. What has he done?
The storyteller nodded then exclaimed in awe. "It must be, the wolf might like her hood. Do you think the hood would look good on the wolf?" She asked. "Do you think the wolf needed a hood?" The kids shook their heads. "Then what does the wolf need?"
"Food." The kids exclaimed and she gasped while asking, "Where can the wolf get the food, Haechan saem?" God, this is embarrassing.
It was afternoon when the kids already left and Yuta had felt the tiredness already. This is one gruesome experience and he felt a deep appreciation for daycare teachers. The level of their patience is no joke, even their energy. It must be nice to date one.
Unconsciously, his gaze fell on her who was talking to Doyoung while folding the little aprons that the kids used for their class earlier. Once done and the cameras are off, the head teacher asked the guys for some snacks as a thank you for helping them. "Y/N, can you order some bread in the bakery down the street?" She nodded, standing up and letting Doyoung do all the folding.
"Yuta, you should come with her." Taeyong said and Mark smiled, he hissed but stood up.
The walk is rather short that they have already reached the bakery before he can muster up the courage to talk to her. It was awkward. He wanted to apologize for ruining the storytelling session, for not helping her enough. "Yuta saem." she called that snapped him from his thoughts. "Is custard bread alright with you?" He nodded. "I mean, it's too much sugar. Are you watching your weight or you can eat whatever you want?"
He laughed at that. She's talkative. "It's fine. The younger members like custard bread." She looked relieved at that and then took a turtle shaped bread while smiling widely. "This is cute."
She nodded. "And it tastes really good as well." He returned one custard bread and took one turtle shaped bun. The girl only stared and Yuta was gentleman enough to carry the variety of breads to the cashier. To her surprise, he raced her by paying with his own card. "The teachers will scold me."
"Don't worry about it." He thanked the cashier and then took the two bags of bread that startled her. "Can you please open the door for me?" She pushed the door and he thanked her.
"I feel bad. Do you need help carrying those?" Yuta shook his head. "I'm sorry. You might be tired and…"
"It's fine, Y/N." he said with a smile. "I should be the one apologizing." She stared at him in confusion. "I ruined story time."
Y/N shook her head. "I understand that story time might be really boring…"
"No, it's not." Wait, does she really think that he's not paying attention because she's boring? "You're just distracting." She stopped walking, staring at him in surprise. "You're really pretty and so good with kids."
She gasped and he thought that she looked so cute. "Thank you." A blush crept on her cheeks that made her cuter in his eyes.
"Do you want to have coffee with me sometime?"
"Will that be alright?" Yuta smiled. She didn't say no.
"It's just coffee," he assured.
"Just coffee," she repeated.
When Y/N opened the door to the classroom, there was an eruption of laughter coming from the teachers, the boys, and the staff. Yuta put the bags of bread on top of the table as they took a snack one by one. He snatched the turtle shaped bun from Jungwoo, handing one to Y/N that made her smile. Everyone had a knowing smile on their lips when Johnny said, "Oh, that's why."
Y/N had a confused expression and Yuta glared. "Red Riding Hood really is pretty." Jaehyun claimed, Doyoung and Haechan snickered.
"Did you at least get her number?" Taeil asked.
The female staff members were giggling, the teachers were looking at Y/N. "No." he said as a matter of fact. Whines of disappointment can be heard that made him chuckle. "But we're going out for coffee."
"It's just coffee." She shrugged.
"Yeah," Yuta mumbled. "Just coffee."

Forever Separated
Based on this request: “Reader is Luke’s girlfriend in the 90’s and is at the gig at the Orpheum and hit by a drunk driver and dies instantly. She and the boys come back as ghosts 25 years later. She’s there for everything that goes down with Julie, Willie, and Caleb.”
masterlist
Your fingers tap absentmindedly on the steering wheel as you careen through the streets. It’s late now, the beacons of headlights guiding you down the asphalt. There’s a grin on your face that won’t seem to go away- your boys are playing at the Orpheum tonight. The Orpheum. That’s been their dream for what feels like forever. It doesn’t even seem true.
By your boys, you mean Sunset Curve, of course. The motley collection of four teenage boys with dreams bigger than the world and the need for a chance to prove themselves. You stumbled across them at a small jazz club, at what had been one of their first performances. It hadn’t been long after that when you had become a friend of the bandmates, and an even shorter time before you fell in love with Luke. When you started dating, it felt like everything was finally falling into place.
You had always known that they would make it, even when they seemed to doubt it themselves. You knew they had gathered regrets over the years- Reggie with the fracturing of his family, Alex with his parents’ lack of acceptance of him, and Luke with the way he’d run out on his mother. You had seen it in their faces- if their band never got off of the ground, they would continue to doubt themselves for the rest of their lives. There had been times when you thought that it might be over for good, that they’d be done for before they even got the chance to get started. Yet here you are now, driving towards their gig at the Orpheum.
You’re only a couple of streets away. You’re practically shivering with anticipation at the thought of it- all of their dreams and hopes, finally come to fruition. You, however, are running a little late despite your best interests, and so your foot involuntarily presses down on the gas. You’re not speeding, always careful to follow traffic laws, just making sure you’re not going to be as late as you fear.
It only seems fitting that something would go wrong on this night of nights. Thinking back, you’re almost glad it happened to you and not someone else. You had this awful feeling that something was going to happen to ruin this gig, and maybe if it happened to you it would protect the boys and let their show run on uninterrupted. When you pass through the intersection, this thought may have protected you.
When you see the truck out of the corner of your eye, you continue driving. You know it will stop, it has to. Maybe it’s the way you’re eager to see your boys again, or the fact that the light has been green for a long time now and there’s no way the driver could miss the glaring red in front of him. Maybe it’s just because you feel sheltered by this bubble of hope that comes with seeing the boy you love play at the Orpheum. Regardless, there is nothing you can do to avoid the truck, and you keep expecting that it will stop until it is inches away from you. Then you finally realize that there’s no getting out of this, and it is only then that it is too late to act.
You’ve seen car crashes in the movies. They’re always a blazing whirl of headlights and screeching tires, a hailstorm of broken glass that reflects the light in the most beautiful arc around you. It will be slow, like time itself crawls to a stop, just in time for your head to fly back in a graceful motion. Then it will speed up again, and just like that it will be over.
This is nothing like that. It is over an instant, no beautifully devastating moments. You’re not a marionette to be hung delicately in the air, your strings are cut within seconds. You do not have time to see the poetry in your last moments, they’re already over. All you manage to see is a quick glimpse of a bottle resting in the driver’s hands, a tremendous impact like the very shaking of the earth, and then there is nothing at all. No orchestras reach a momentum, no lens flares pierce the night. There is everything, and then there is nothing. It is painfully ordinary.
There is one feeling that seems to surround it all. A pain, numb at first and then growing to a fever pitch. You don’t know when you wake up, only that it is much later. There’s someone dressed in a paramedic’s uniform standing over you, the piercing din of an ambulance somewhere behind you. You want to form words together and ask who it’s for, but the answer comes to you the second you realize you can’t move a muscle. It is for you. You are the one in need of saving.
The paramedic is standing over you, shouting something about a drunk driver and two casualties, the driver and the girl right here. You want to stand up, to shout to the world that you’re alive and fine. But for some reason, you can’t move at all. You can’t say anything except feel the last of your pulse die from your veins. Distantly, you feel a raw anguish creeping up in your throat. Luke and the others are still waiting for you at the Orpheum. Who will tell them that you’re gone?
It should have been over then. You died, certainly. You bled out on the streets and ceased to draw breath. Indeed, you had the classic fading of color and acceptance of the darkness just like everyone else. It appears that you will only have access to the clichés of the stories in death. It’s oddly fitting. Regardless of the beauty of it, you died. End of story.
Or at least, it should have been the end. Yet, you find yourself standing again, waiting at the back of a crowded room. You stare at your hands, at your body, which appears unharmed. Your eyes travel from yourself to the people in front of you. Your parents sit in chairs, their backs to you. They’re looking over a photo album, crying softly. “She was so young. She could have done so much more. I miss her, even though it’s been so long.”
You step forward, but the ground makes no sound underneath your feet. “Y/N wouldn’t want you to be sad. She would want you to remember her with happiness, not with tears, right?” Your mother nods sadly. “I can’t seem to help it, though.” An icy chill runs through your veins as you realize what’s happened. All you can think about is that you need to get away from here, somewhere where you won’t be surrounded by people mourning your death.
And then you’re gone. One minute you’re in your home, the next minute you’re standing on the sidewalk outside. Although you look around frantically, no one notices your sudden appearance. No one, that is, except one boy. He’s riding a skateboard, long dark hair tucked underneath a helmet. He stops suddenly, staring at you. “Hey, you just poofed here out of nowhere. You’re a ghost?”
You stare at him. “You can see me?” He nods. “You must be new to this ghost business if you’ve got questions. I’m Willie, by the way.” You smile weakly at him. “Y/N. I guess I would have to be a ghost if I died in the accident.” Willie winces. “Ooh, accidents. Those hurt. I died around the early 80s, a couple of decades ago, so I know what you mean.” You stare at him. “The 80s weren’t a couple of decades ago. They were recent.”
Willie shakes his head. “Sorry, man. You must have only been brought back as a ghost recently. It’s the 2020s right now.” You shake your head slowly. “That means it’s been 30 years since I died. How is that possible?” Willie places a hand on your shoulder, and for some reason the gesture is surprisingly comforting. “Hey, not a whole lot about the ghost stuff makes sense. If you want to talk about it, though, I’m here.” You smile at him. “I’d like that a lot, actually.”
Willie ends up becoming a fast friend. He explains everything there is to know about ghosts, and the two of you have fun messing around with your ghost abilities, whatever those are. It’s nice to have someone who understands about the ghost business, and you find that in leaps and bounds with Willie.
One day, you’re lying on a grassy hill admiring the clouds when Willie poofs into existence next to you. For some reason, he looks almost flushed with excitement, cheeks pink with thrill. “You won’t believe who I met. The cutest guy. He’s a new ghost, too.” You grin over at him. “Already making moves? You’re unreal.” Willie rolls his eyes. “I played it safe. We had a nice chat. He seems very cool, in a band or something. I think he plays the drums. Alex, was in a band called Sunset Curve. I think that’s a good name for a band, and I’ve heard a lot of bad ones.”
You sit up suddenly, all thoughts of the bright afternoon sun quickly abandoned. “What did you say? About Sunset Curve?” Willie frowns. “That’s the guy’s band. Or, it was until he died. He’s about our age, played in a band called Sunset Curve.” You shake your head slowly. “That makes no sense. They should have grown up a long time ago.” Willie still seems confused, so you clarify. “I know Alex, and I know the rest of his bandmates. I was friends with them until I died.” You fix him with a sudden purposeful look. “I need you to bring me to meet these guys.”
Willie has to ask around, but eventually he finds Alex and discovers that they’re staying in their old studio, now inhabited by the Molina family. You thank him, setting off as soon as you can. As you stand outside the doors to the studio, you find yourself suddenly nervous. Will they want to see you? Will they understand what happened?
The faint sounds of music drifting out from the doors is what convinces you. It sounds just like them, like this is another afternoon from the 90s when you’re meeting up with Luke and the others. You gather your courage and knock twice on the doors, then push them open. You stand for a moment in the doorway, staring. The boys stare back at you. It’s funny- everyone looks the exact same, even though everything has changed.
Then there’s a voice from the back of the room. It’s quiet, as if he’s afraid to say anything lest the moment be fractured away into nothingness. “Y/N?” Luke steps forward, disbelief warring with hope in his eyes. You nod slowly. “Luke?” Luke stands still for a moment longer, then runs forward, wrapping you in his arms and pulling you close. You tuck your head into the space between his head and his shoulder, letting yourself relax once more.
After what could be ten seconds or ten minutes, Luke reluctantly pulls away. He cups your face in his hand, just staring with awe. “How are you here? We died- you weren’t at the Orpheum-” You laugh bitterly. “I died too. There was a drunk driver on the road, he hit me when I was just a couple of blocks away. I was so close, that was the worst part.” Luke nods slowly. “I remember hearing sirens. I didn’t know it was you.”
Something like guilt passes over his face, and you hurriedly shake your head. “It wasn’t your fault. You couldn’t have known. I guess you died some time after that?” Luke nods. “Just before the show. We never got to play.” A sad sigh rips from his chest, and you pull him close again. It isn’t fair, not at all. He shouldn’t have died, you shouldn’t have died. He should not have been robbed of this chance to live the dream he always wanted.
There’s the sound of a throat clearing from across the room. “You know, we’re here too. Not just Luke.” You look up, laughing. “Sorry, Reggie, Alex. Love you guys too. I’m glad we can all be dead together.” Alex flashes you a thumbs up from across the room. “Me too, Y/N. Me too.” Luke laughs now, albeit reluctantly. You squeeze his hand one more time, then step into the room, greeting the other boys.
Your gaze falls upon a figure you don’t recognize- a girl, about your age if not a year younger. She has dark, curly hair and a fascinated smile. “Hi, I’m Y/N.” The girl startles. “Julie. Julie Molina. It’s nice to meet you- you must be the girl Luke keeps talking about.” You toss a grin Luke’s way. “You’ve been talking about me?” Luke moves to deny this, but Reggie speaks up loudly. “So often. You have no idea. He’s been very sad.”
Luke glares at his friend, but you just grin, pressing a kiss to his cheek. “Well, it’s nice to feel wanted.” Luke beams at you, still thrilled that you’re here again. “Trust me, you are. I can’t believe you get to stay with me.”
Neither can you, actually. Somehow, despite the fact that you died and came back again, Luke did the same, and you can be with him again. You’ve lost everything- your family, your future, your life, but you still have him. It feels impossible, but it’s true.
This isn’t to say that life is smooth sailing from here. It turns out Luke, Alex, and Reggie have gotten themselves tangled in the mess that is Caleb’s club, and they’ve got the stamps to prove it. You find yourself holding Luke close while he spasms from jolt after jolt, forcing smiles to pretend like it doesn’t kill you every time he’s in pain. You also have to defend Willie to the rest, as he’s been your friend for a while and would never knowingly betray them. You have a feeling that Alex is pretty happy to hear this.
At last, you find the way to save Luke and save the boys- another performance at the Orpheum, this time as their unfinished business. Standing outside the building, staring up at the blinking neon signs, you can’t help but feel some strange feeling in the pit of your stomach. This feels like a sick twist of deja vu. This is how you died- waiting for the boys’ performance at the Orpheum. Staying here now, in the same position but after you’ve died, feels somehow wrong.
You try to shake the thoughts from your head, slipping inside the building to go find Luke, Julie, and the others. This isn’t like that night, you can’t die twice. Everything is going to be fine. Yet when you walk in the dressing room and catch sight of a panicked Flynn trying to calm a visibly shaken Julie, you have a feeling that things aren’t exactly smooth sailing.
Julie looks up when she sees you appear in the room. “Y/N, it’s good to see you. Have you seen Luke and the boys?” You shake your head, a crease forming between your brows. “No, not since I left the studio to let you say your goodbyes. Have they not shown up?” Julie sinks back down in a chair, hands pressed to her temples. “Not at all.” You slump against a wall. This feels like history repeating itself again- you dead, the boys not showing up to their performance at the Orpheum. No matter how many times you tell a story, it tends to end the same way.
Distraught, you wander back through the building to attempt to find the boys, but your search is to no avail. They’re nowhere to be found. You stumble through the auditorium just to see Julie taking the stage. You have a brief, wild hope that she’s managed to find them, but then you see the red rims of her teary eyes and hear the goodbye she issues to the crowd. If they haven’t shown up, then that means-
You try to distract yourself by listening to Julie sing. It brings a smile to your face in spite of yourself. Julie is a bright firecracker of a girl, and it’s been wonderful to get to know her. At least you know you have her at the end of this. Yet when the beat drops, Alex appears in a flash of sparks. You stand up, pressing forward through the crowd as if your proximity will do anything more to bring them back. Yes- there goes Reggie, and there’s Luke struggling to flicker back into existence. You send out a silent plea: bring him back, please. You can’t do this without him.
Then he’s back again, and you feel like your heart might burst. He flashes you a grin, as if to promise that nothing could separate you again. You smile back at him, finally letting yourself relax. He’s here, it’s okay. It’s all okay. When the song ends, you watch through joyful eyes as the boys stand next to Julie, clasping hands before taking a bow. There’s something wrong, though, something wrong when they disappear. Usually, you can loosely sense them when they poof away, but this time there’s nothing. Nothing at all. It’s like they’ve been erased away from the song of their lives.
There’s something pounding in the back of your heart, and you poof away to Julie’s rooms backstage. She appears there seconds later, as if she’s been expecting you. She runs over to you, stopping a few feet away as she remembers she can’t touch you or hug you as a ghost. “Tell me they’re still here. They didn’t just cross over.” You shake your head slowly. “I can’t feel them. They’re not in the building anymore. Julie, I think they’re gone.”
She nods slowly, fighting a losing battle to keep the tears at bay. “I’m so sorry, Y/N. So sorry. You just found Luke again, and now he’s gone.” You force a smile. “It’s alright. We’re just ghosts, remember? We’ve been running on borrowed time all along. I’ll meet you at the studio, alright? We can say our goodbyes.” Julie nods. “I’ll see you then.” You give her one last wave, then poof out.
You reappear outside the doors of the studio. You can’t quite bring yourself to go in, to face the empty stillness of the studio and know that the boy you love isn’t there. What are you supposed to do now? You have no idea what your unfinished business could possibly be. Most likely, you’re going to live out your endless days as a ghost, not noticed by anyone except Julie and Willie and whatever other ghosts you manage to find, forever haunted by the knowledge that the one person you’re looking for the most will never appear around the corner, never be waiting for you again. It’s like you’re back to that car crash, knowing you’ll be separated by death once more.
You hear the sound of a car pulling into the driveway and straighten up. Seconds later, Julie appears down the path, and you nod at her slowly. “Are you ready to do this?” She sighs. “It seems fitting to say goodbye, even if they aren’t here.” She pushes open the doors, letting the darkness wash over the two of you. She looks over at you. “I don’t know what to do.” You smile gently. “There’s no script. I have a feeling they’ll be able to hear you. Just say what you wish you got to say before they left.”
Julie nods. “I’m glad I got to meet you guys, and grateful to you for everything. You got me back into music, and I’ll never be able to let go of it again. I thought I’d never play after my mom, but you convinced me that I could. Thank you.” There’s a muffled voice from the back of the room, one that’s quickly shushed by two annoyed boys. “You’re welcome.” You stare. “Reggie?” You’d know him anywhere- you’ve heard that voice in band practices for the last couple of decades, even if it doesn’t feel that way.
Julie runs over to turn on the light, and your hand flies to your mouth as you see the boys crumpled in a heap on the floor, in obvious pain. “Did it not work? Did you not cross over?” Luke shakes his head, gently extricating himself from the heap of band members on the ground to stumble over to you. You catch him before he falls, holding him upright. “We won’t play with Caleb, that’s a promise. It’s not worth it like that.” You cup his face in your hands. “I don’t want to let you go. Not yet.”
Luke laughs quietly. “I’m not sure we had a choice. I love you, Y/N, no matter what. You know that, right?” You nod, letting your head fall against his shoulder. “I know.” You feel one last jolt rack his body, and somehow you know that this will be the last. This is it, the moment when he truly dies. You fling your arms around him, holding him close one last time. If you can’t have the future with him you had always planned, you can at least have this moment.
Your eyes are squeezed shut, waiting for the moment when he disappears from you forever. Yet it doesn’t come. You open your eyes carefully, then stare at him. “Luke, you’re- I think you’re glowing.” Sure enough, he’s surrounded by this golden haze of light. He smiles at you, chuckling slightly in awe. “I feel good. Strong, like I haven’t felt in a while.” Alex stands up too, as does Reggie. “Actually, I feel better too. I think you saved us. Both of you.”
You laugh incredulously. “Really? You’re not going away?” Luke presses a kiss to your cheek. “Never again. I’m not leaving you ever again.” You beam at him. “Good. I don’t intend to be with anyone else.” He laughs at that, pulling you in for a kiss. For once, you know that he’s here to stay.
